Thought about you when I passed through Moultrie yesterday afternoon. I was trying to beat the storm to my house. I didn't beat it but got home anyway...Whew!

STUPID WEATHERMAN!!!! The weather forecast for Saturday was clear with a high of 71 so I detailed the car Friday night with the intention of driving it to the Moultrie Swap Meet. Well, I woke up at 6:30 am got dressed and stepped out the door only to be greeted by a light rain! Dang it, I won't be driving the car. So I get in my truck and head out for the show. A light rain falls the whole way but I decide to pay the entry price and see what is on the inside. This had to be the least attended show since I started going. I finally decided it wasn't worth getting sick so I left at 1:00pm. It was still misting and the temperature never got above 50 all day.
Today started off damp and chilly but the sun broke through the clouds and the temperature climbed to 75 in a short time. I did take the wife for a ride and got to enjoy the day a little.
I didn't do anything to the car last week. Y'all have a good one.

Sunday has come and is almost gone. I was sitting here watching the Beatles tribute and almost forgot to make my weekly post. I actually worked on the car for about an hour the other day. I finally got the motor to run with manifold vacuum for the distributor advance. And, it runs much smoother! I am going to do a little tweaking and then I will change plugs because the ones in there now have been running under rich conditions. I would like to thank Geoff for the help he gave me with this situation. I said that my car would not run with MVA (manifold Vacuum advance) but Geoff gave me some tips and the car does run on MVA. I have a good amount of work to do on the interior but that will get done when it gets done. For right now, I am going to drive the car while the weather permits.

Nothing new to report this week except I found another problem with the carburetor that has to be addressed before I change plugs. I started a separate post about the problem and have been given some good advice.
I don't know how soon I will get to it. Hopefully in the next week or two.

Change the plugs now and you won't have to do it later. LOL

As for 50°s... I don't remember either. I'm FedUp with winter and I have decided to cancel it.

OK. I have been fixing my carb for about a week now and I think I have fixed it for good!
I am not going to count this as time and money spent because this is not part of the restoration.
That being said I haven't done anything else to the car. Y'all have a good week.

Well, I fixed the carb so good that the only thing better would be a professionally rebuilt one so that is the route I took. I bought a 7041262 from Carburetor Specialist out of Atlanta. With the discount they gave me due to who I work for I got a "show" finished carb for $399.00. I bolted it on and the car fired right up. But, i have a skip that is either a plug or a wire. I am going to get a set of A/C R45S plugs when I go into work tomorrow and put them in tomorrow night, maybe.

The 45s took care of the skip. I even have the choke hooked up and working! Other than playing with the carb and plugs I haven't done anything else to the car. It was cold and wet most of the week but yesterday and today were beautiful. I put the top down and took my wife for a nice Sunday drive and the car ran perfect. Now, I can get back on the A/C and interior.

Never heard of that place. Good looking carb. I'm thinking from the number it would be a '71 GTO carb?

Greg,
It is a 71 and mates to the 71 intake and choke stove on the car. I really didn't want to change out the intake at this time so I bought the carb to match it.

That's a decent carb and should do just fine for that application. I have one on my '66 that I tuned based on one of Cliff's recipes.

Another wet Sunday here in the south but I swear it was a full moon last night.Weird things happened. I drove the car to our local cruise-in yesterday and had a little fun but almost got stopped by the law. A friend pulled up beside me on the four lane and hit the gas. I responded and we ran about a block at almost full throttle before slowing to turn into the parking lot. Neither one of us realized that a police car was back behind us. Fortunately he didn't pull us over but he did stop in the center turn lane and watch us park before he left.
Then as we were sitting at the supper table one of the guys asked me if I wanted some Pontiac parts. I said "Sure, what do you have and how much are you asking?" He said "You weren't listening. Do you WANT some parts?. But, you have to take them all."
I told him as soon as I got over some minor surgery that I am having Tuesday I would call him and come get them. It may be junk but it may be something we can use.
Then something really weird happened. A guy and his wife drove up in a really nice ratrod and parked close to the restaurant. They were sitting on the patio when a stranger walked up to look at the cars. He walked over to the ratrod, looked at it for a minute then threw his cup of coke all over the radiator and front end of the car.
The owner was on him before he could get away and while I didn't see any of it I was told that a pretty good tail whipping was had by the coke thrower.
An off duty policeman witnessed the event and told the owner that he had to call it in. The same policeman that almost pulled me over showed up in a few minutes. They found the guy at the other end of the parking lot and had to take him to the hospital for treatment. Then the cop came back by and asked the owner if he wanted to press charges or make a statement. The owner told them it wasn't worth pressing charges and he had already made his statement. So ended an event filled cruise-in.
Other than that I have done nothing more to the car and I will be out of commission for the next week or two depending on what the doc tells me.

I have to have a spot on my shoulder cleaned out. It was diagnosed as melanoma about two weeks ago. My wife just went through the same thing. She got a good report and the cancer was caught in time. I am hoping for the same thing. I will probably get several stitches and won't be able to do any lifting. That is why I'll be down for a little while.

Just a quick note to say that there will be no reading of the will anytime soon! Doc said everything looked good and while both biopsies were diagnosed as melanoma they were very thin and all he had to do was clean them up.
About an hour later I was all stitched up front and back and was on my way home. I have the rest of the week off but can't do too much with my shoulder so that rules out working on the car. Oh well it will be there when I get to it.
