My first was an 88 Mustang II. White, hatchback, automatic 4 cyl. I have this problem though, where I get bored with my current ride....so I buy/sell cars like there's no tomorrow....and you can bet i am pretty much broke, lol.


Anyone going to want a 73 LeMans by about August? Lol....I dunno, I might still want to keep it by then.

Ah, the memories. My first ride was a 1966 GTO. 389 4bbl, PW,PB,A/C,PA. Silver w/ Black vinyl top. Great ride!! Bought it for $495 in 1975.

It so fun reading about all awesome cars that you guys bought in the 60s and 70s for almost nothing.

My first car (bought on Independence Day 1984) was a ´71 Chevelle 2d hardtop. At that time my daily driver was a ´65 Volvo 121 that I had borrowed from dad.

Soon after this I met a guy with a ´66 GTO Conv and I thought it was one of the best looking cars I have ever seen.

I'm with you on that Hans. The 66 GTO I spoke of above that I bought for $495!! Well I sold that car in the spring of 76' after seeing a beautiful 1966 GTO ragtop, Montero red w/ white top and interior that my Boss' son had for sale. Sold my Silver 66' for $775 and bought the 50k original mile ragtop for $800! Hard to imagine that today, huh? I believe the 1966/67 GTO's are by far the best looking cars ever built in a convertible platform. There isn't a sleeker looking vehicle on the road, even today, that looked that good with the top dropped!..Unfortunately when the top is up you lose that kick ass roof line of the hardtop.

Cool story Jeff, thanks for sharing. Do you stillhave that convertible? My friends conv was a sister to yours, exactly the same combination. He sold the car without me even knowing it. I tried to track it down but wasn´t able to buy it. Now I got another convert I might be able to buy...hopefully I will be able to get this one.

Nah, I sold that car in late 1977 and bought a Barrier Blue 66 hartop with a 389 4 speed which I used for both street and strip racing. I only have my 67 hardtop now. I loved that ragtop though. You can't see it from the picture but my current 67 is the same color combo as that 66 ragtop. Here's a picture of the ragtop. Not the best picture but it was the best you could get with a Kodak instamatic 124 and Fotomat!!

Mine was a 1973 T/A. Teenager + 455 = spun rod. Rebuilt the engine. Got faster- broke more stuff/got more tickets.

Im, 16 and for my first car, it is my dad's Can Am that he bought when he was 18. It has the 400 in it with black interior and bucket seats. My dad and I are pulling the 400 and storing it to preserve the numbers matching engine. We are going to put a 455 in it. Right now I drive a minivan since we are still worknig on the Can Am, it is a 2000 pontiac montana with lots of hail damage, but its my dad's so I dont consider it my first car

Ya bedo trust me having a 455 car for your first car isn't as great as it seems. Im 17 now and my dad bought me a MAJOR project 74 455 Trans am when I was 15. I ended up spending the entire summer all day every day restoring it. Having high hopes thinking it would be so awesome. Its cool for about two weeks. Gas ate me alive... only getting 8-10 miles a gallon. Worrying constantly that the car is going to get damaged or stolen. Old muscle cars aren't practical cars. Luckily I had a job and bought a truck within 7 months of having it, and still have the Trans am today. When your spending about 50 dollars a week on gas and not driving that much, and people start messing with your car cause they are jealous. Your not going to like it that much..

Oh, I know what you mean. It is not going to be driven much. The mini van is my daily driver. I'll drive the Can Am probably once a week and to car shows on the weekend . I'm definately not planning for it being a daily driver.

My first car in 1975 was a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda 318 Auto, Orange with one black fender, it had been wrecked. My Dad sternly warned me not to buy it, but it was my money, $1000.00, and I knew best. Three months later the positrac rear end went out, had it fixed, tranny lost second gear, then the motor crapped out. After six months I sold it as it sat for $600.00 and bought a '71 Pontiac Grand Prix with a/c and a 400. That car got me through 3 yrs of College until I finally sold it. I met my wife in that car, she hated it, it was loud and too fast hah, thats why I loved it!

Gee you are alot like i was ,i had 5 gto's before my 1965 now but unlike you i had bad luck with the first 3 , i was just 16 when i had my first car a 1970 gto as a teenager i was definatley new to making payments and when i fell behind on 1 the lady i had bought it from said she will repo the car so i was kind of scared what might happen so i turned over the keys to her just after only being behing 1 week and then i had a 68 which got impounded and a 67 that was stolen on my birthday !! ouch ,,finally the last 3 were great for me. but wow you had some good cars there !!!hope you stay a dedicated pontaic person!!!!

My first car was a 73 Olds Cutlass 350-4bbl "Rocket". Bought it on Friday July 13, 1984 with 21,000 miles on the clock. It was Mustard Yellow with a Brown Vinyl top and Saddle interior. A 2 door with bench seat column shift. Real clean grandma owned car. I repainted it Chestnut Brown Metallic (a 73 Olds color) and added Keystone Raider wheels and Dual Exhaust with Walker Blue Streak glasspacks.

My first Pontiac was a 72 Firebird 350-2bbl auto. Red with white interior. I paid $50 for it and it ran like a scalded dog. I'd consitently beat my buddy's 69 Ford Galaxie with a 390-4bbl. Beat the heck out it for about a year and traded it for the paint/body on the 73 Cutlass.

My first GTO was a 67 hardtop Red/Red 4spd. Paid $500 for this very rusty car but it ran great. Prior owner drove it on test drive and delivered it to my house so I owned a stick shift GTO and didn't even know how to drive a clutch. Heh Heh.

So here I am about 70 cars later......
