I would send it freight collect. Jim you should not have to pay any freight on this item. We would not make a cust pay freight on a defective item. I would contact them & let them know your feelings on this issue & make sure they know your going to ship the block back to them Freight Collect.

Here is my companies return policy. I can tell you that we will waive the policy and cover return shipping charges "occationally". I work for a very large company. I am not saying right or wrong, just this is how they do it.

COMPANY X warrants that COMPANY X products are free from defects in
material and workmanship under normal use and
service for a period of one year from date of shipment. All software
products, electromechanical
assemblies, and sensors are warranted to be free from
defects in material and workmanship under normal use
and service for a period of 90 days from date of
shipment. COMPANY X's obligations under this warranty
are limited to repairing or replacing, at its discretion
and at its factory or facility, any products which shall,
within the applicable period after shipment, be returned
to COMPANY X freight prepaid, and which are, after
examination, disclosed to the satisfaction of
COMPANY X, to be defective.

Maybe the vertical 4 bolt mains was some of the root cause. If so then there might be a good way to uniformly tell people what to look for as far as warranty recalls.

130 Brinell readings would still keep me from ever using a block for high performance use.

Nice too see a recall finally, BUT I would be pissed as hell if I had to pay to ship back something that was not good in the first place. In my opinion this is not good P.R. If anybody is paying to ship back there blocks please post it.

OMT, have you thought about Brinelling the new block just to see if they had another foundry pouring blocks? Or has that been decided allready? I have'nt kept up with all the posts.

This all seems interesting! I have yet to hear anything from the Kauffmans. Must be selective on their replacement of the DANGEROUS BLOCKS they sold. If thats the case, I believe it could get interesting, don't you think? :eek:

No, he is in no way affiliated with the ownership of KRE or K&M. He owns his own business, TinIndianPerformance, which happens to be a vendor of KRE/K&M products.

Okay, I've had a bad experience with Kevin Swaney selling something on this forum, then claiming it was sold by his 'friend' after he agreed to a price for it---except that I found the same item listed on ebay under his user name and he got belligerent when I questioned him about why that would be. His actions and response was completely in keeping with the spirit of the problems with MR1.

You added the a-hole part of the comment. I didn't. So, it's not so much the issues of lying and bad business practices. It's the part about being belligerent that you can't believe.


The issue is his character. I noticed you didn't take issue with his lack of it. He made a commitment and went back on his word. The bad attitude was just the insult to injury. You can probably still find the post where he was selling 68 timing covers on this site. I responded and he put it in writing that I could have them for an agreed price. Then he posted about his 'friend' selling them without his knowledge. I found them 2 days later on ebay under his user name KSSwaney. I sent an email to him with the link that simply said, I found the timing covers Kevin. They're right here under your user name on ebay (with the link included).

That's the character flaw I'm illustrating. At first he just responded that he made a mistake and 'thought' they were sold. I guess it started eating at him that he got exposed because he shot off a second email with a statement like I DON'T GET YOUR B*TCH! THEY'RE ONLY AT $38. IF YOU WANT THEM, BID ON THEM!
Hmm, interesting way to do business I'd say. Agree on a website to sell something for $35 each, then pull the rug out from under them, lie that they got sold by someone else, then put them on ebay instead. Don't forget to pour the attitude on when you get caught lying. I still have the emails.
