Allen, don't get me wrong I am very happy the values of these cars are rising. I just meant that if you have a nice car you really need to think twice before you sell because down the road that car may be out of reach.

I`m no expert, but i am predicting the value of the 60s - earlly 70s supercars will drop sharply never to rebound. most of young men 40 and under care little about these cars, and gets worse with each generation. Just look at the 20 somethings who think a Honda or Miata is cool.
Again, I`m no expert, but I have no interest in a 1932 A model. I really hope I`m wrong, because my car would make a nice retirement supplement in 12 - 15 years from now |

The auction has been molested beyond repair.
And in addition, the big boys with genuine bucks don't play the "one better" bidding game - they wait til the end to do serious business. Especially once the reserve has been tipped. Anything else is the opposite of smart money. It's very easy to ruin someones eBay auction like this, surprised we don't see more of it than we have. If it is seller imposed bluff, I agree with The Boss on how it will end. |

Ram4king,
The dollars involved in this car are high and the seller might see your comments as actionable with an easily defined financial cost to him for this transaction and his reputation. I would be careful just how you word those kind of comments. I do not know you or him and I don't have an axe to grind, just a heads up for what is an albeit extremely unlikely put potential very messy situation for you and this forum.

Another thing, Why would someone have a buddy list a car for them of this caliber. It's not like he's going to be able to hide from the IRS or something.
Also, when someone makes a statement of the car not be an "Original block car", why have someone else come on here and say "oh yes it is", why not come on here yourself, state the previous owner ,or owners names(Give a brief recent history),if you have nothing to hide but the profit you stand to make , what's the deal! If the owner is in fact the owner of The Parts Place, I would think he would want this all to be on the up-n-up, or it could tarnish his reputation. DW

If this is his car, it would answer some questions. Are the bids real? No way. Is it likely that this auction is being used for publicity, to draw attention to the car for a future sale? I would bet the farm on it. Would Joe manipulate details or circumstance for his own gain? Without question. Would I buy this car if I knew Joe had anything to do with it? Not a chance. I don't know if this is Joe's car, although the ebay seller and Joe seem to share some personality traits. Have I made any "actionable" statements here? NO, the truth is not actionable. |

actually I can understand why joe would not want to sell the car, dealing with people on cars is a major pain in the ass, but I would think if I had someone list a car for me I would want them to put a little better effort in the description and sale of my car but hey to each their own! hard to say if auction is for real, but if it is I am among the many that let a couple RA 4 cars go for way to cheap in the past if this is what they are going to do, I do know a little story on the car when it was purchased and from my account it was all number matching but I was not there and did not look at the car it was all second hand information from somone that had looked at it, so who knows for sure! the way the 69 liberty blue parchment judge was altered or converted to number matching who know's,

The one on Ebay 180042838647 is located here in Atlanta. Picture 10 on the ebay listing is the same one CC is using on his site. I dont know if Atlanta Muscle Cars owns it or has it on consignment.

I think no sale. Most likely we will not hear any more of this car for a few weeks, then it will turn up for sale for much less than $400K. Maybe it will show up at an auction like BJ.
Anybody know what the ebay fee is on a 400K sale? Seller might be willing to pay the fee to make the sale look legit. This would an example of artificially inflating the market value. This kind of scheme got a few folks in jail after the Savings and Loan scandals in the 80's. Another possibility is that the seller will dream up a story about how he was victimized by unscrupulous bidders on ebay, and now needs to sell the car for its real market value. Who knows? And more important, who really cares? I have no interest in doing business with this ebay seller clown or the parts place. The sellers replies to questions tell me all I need to know, I avoid these types. They simply don't have anything I need. |
