At this point I'm waiting on Hagerty to approve (or disapprove) my shops estimate. They received the estimate yesterday.

After much back and forth between Hagerty and my body shop an additional check has been written and mailed. I'm up to $7000 now. I'll contact Pleasant Grove Collision tomorrow to see how we start.

This ordeal is making me glad that I am not a customer of Hagertys. This is an unreasonable amount of time to have resolution. The car should have been repaired weeks ago!!

Honestly, I'd rather it had not been wrecked....but, I can't change that.
I'm sure this wasn't the first time it's been hit during it's "life" either. I don't expect it to be done quickly, body shops are like walking in to a car dealership. You expect and anticipate one thing and invariably the experience doesn't turn out quite like you thought. Hopefully it'll be back on the road by the time it starts warming up out. I did fire it up for a few minutes Saturday (2nd time since the wreck) as I programmed the garage door opener to my new truck. The battery was nearly flat, but it lit.

I'm dropping a deposit for parts (I believe they're around $800) at the body shop on Monday and he'll get back to me when the parts arrive. I noted that I'd rather have the car sitting in my basement than hanging around his lot/shop rusting as the parts are working. He laughed and agreed. He wants to make sure I come back. I also opened discussion on how much he'd charge me to paint the rest of the car while he's got it. The current color is close to Verdoro Green but not quite. Given an all over respray I'd want it Verdoro Green. The jams/gaps etc are as Mother Pontiac painted them. He wants to see the car again, so we'll talk about it when I take it to him to start.
Another thought is running through my head too.....put the vinyl roof back on it or leave it off?

My vote is to put the vinyl back on. Usually I'm not a vinyl guy, but the black top on Verdoro looks really nice.

I'd probably be wondering the same thing David RE: vinyl or no vinyl. I went through the same thing for 10 years while I restored mine. I generally prefer the cleaner look of no vinyl but in my car's case, I'm glad my painter talked me into putting it back. My car, being turquoise interior and turquoise exterior, it needed some relief.
Look at a bunch of photos of VG cars without it and if you like the look better than you like yours, dump it. If not, keep it.

My vote is to ditch the vinyl top and use the savings to pay for the overall respray of the whole car.

Keep in mind if you ditch the top there'll be work involved to remove the trim studs from the quarter panel on the non-damaged side.
Personally, I like vinyl tops on cars like yours. If it was mine I'd keep it. So there's an opinion worth exactly what you paid for it.  Hoping all goes smoothly with the repairs.
