Holden and Pontiac have more in common with each other than you think.

1976 Monaro

Looks like a 1981 GP dash.

Good point disc. I have a buddy that has a '69 Hemi Road Runner, drives it about 300 miles a year to a couple of car shows here. Then he sits all day while people shuffle by and look at it. I guess if that's his gig, then fine, but where is the fun in that? He and others like him are quick to point out every "non-factory flaw" on other cars as well. Hey, when I get my 70 Goat up and going it's going to have a very "non factory" Poncho engine and wheel tubs. I always wanted a pro- street looking 70 Goat and that's what it is going to be. Maybe not "restored" in the technical sense but certainly seeing some daylight again. You should be proud of your 71 regardless of what any "expert" says.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>I'm glad I could help you do so. Your point is that regardless if somebody has owned and still does own a GTO and they feel this is not one that makes them a troll. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Once again, the troll's reading comprehension falls short......

My point is that someone that registers a troll name for the sole sake of trolling, is a troll.

Clear enough for you?

You haven't made ONE good argument to support your "point", beyond the fact that you are bitter that the new GTO doesn't look like a GTO should look. A point that we AGREE on, btw.

I am narrow minded, yet I can see that the car has a lot more going for it than it's bland looks.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Point taken. I am a troll. A proud one at that. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

At least you admit it. That's a step in the right direction!

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Now go on and make issue of changing user names, erroneous quote postings, etc. That seems to be the extent of your agenda. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

Once again, you've either not read, or chosen to ignore the extensive retorts I, and others have made to you in attempt at meaningful discussion regarding the new GTO. Your "agenda" of slamming the looks of the GTO and leaping to conclusions not supported by facts are the reason for my "agenda" of calling you a troll.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>BTW: Tell me again, how the GM Monaro is a GTO? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I've covered this base numerous times. I am not going to waste my time repeating all of the good attributes that make the new GTO a GTO.

You either are unable to or refuse to comprehend irrefutable fact.

Your understanding of the difference between fact and opinion is also lacking.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>In your book, if Dodge had slapped a Hemi Charger badge on a Mitsubishi with hemisperical heads I guess that would make it a Hemi Charger right? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

If it lived up to the performance side of the original, I might. The new GTO does that, in spades.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Given that GM owns the marketing rights to the name "Pontiac GTO" they can call whatever they have in their inventory a Pontiac GTO. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

True.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR> Not for my money. I'll keep my 740i, my C5 and the old 70 until Beavis and LutzHead Inc. give us a real GTO. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

As I said in response to the first of hundreds of your posts, DON'T BUY ONE!

BTW, if you are such a Pontiac enthusiast, why is it that your '70 GTO doesn't even run? I would think that a true GTO loyalist, as you claim to be, would at least make the effort to keep your only Pontiac in running condition, and not let it sit for years. I'll bet it looks good sitting in the yard though....

Geez, Nickv. I just ate lunch! I'm embarrased to admit that I had a 1977 Pheonix (Nova based). Butt ugly car, but it had a great dashboard. They made some great dashboards in the mid 70's.

Ok, if you want to call me a troll for whatever reason then go ahead, I really don't care. In fact, I'm thinking of changing my user name to "Proud Troll" just to make you happy. Where in my post did I say my 70 didn't run? Actually the last time I checked my 70 was running just fine. I just haven't started (aka actively driven it) in a quite awhile because it's showing some cosmetic wear that a 34 yr. old car that had been driven daily for nearly 3 decades would show.( Gee, I guess I do know how to keep it running. Thank you for that insight ) There is no rust, the vinyl top is starting to fade and peel, paint is faded as well, etc. The salt they put on the roads here is murder to an old car finish. So it is not seeing any daylight until it can be brought up to modern specs and suitable to drive on a semi-daily basis. That will happen when I take it to Customs and Classics here in SLC and give them a check for $40k or around there. In the meantime it is sitting in my garage with a car cover on it I bought from Target. P.S.: If you're going to answer my posts, don't make your reply so long. I don't read half of the drivel that you write.

A small body molded spoiler isn't bad. It's the winged spoiler on the 04 I don't like. They are on everything now and look cheap. BTW: I answered your post on car shows. Check it out.

Hey DiscO, I checked out your website and the pictures of your 71 model. Nice car!

I call you a troll, because, you're a troll.

Your only contributions to this forum are of a negative and argumentative nature.

Your only interest/agenda is in arguing with people that don't hold your opinions on the new GTO.

That's the definition of a forum troll.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>Where in my post did I say my 70 didn't run? Actually the last time I checked my 70 was running just fine. Wow, you're such a GTO enthusiast that you don't even drive it, even though you can......... A tubbed rear, driven on a "semi-daily basis"? LOL, that's pretty funny if true.

Short enough response for you? Should I type in all caps? Use smaller words?

I should have realized that a troll's attention span and attention to detail are as severely limited as his ability to comprehend basic english.

I apologize.....

I'll try to type slower for you from now on.

Better yet, I won't even bother.

I just figured out who whatzit is...

He's that idiot from Illinois that was trolling here last year, and claiming that he drives 140 MPH on the streets of Chicago or something like that and that he had driven Indy cars....

I think he wanted to street race his Lincoln on the streets of Chicago against an '04 GTO and was frustrated that no one would take him up on it. Of course, he refused to take his Lincoln to the strip and run a GTO...

Nope, sorry champ. I live in SLC and I don't have anything that I'd put up against a GM Monaro except maybe my C5. But it has highway gears, so it would probably lose in a 1/4 against a GM Monaro. The 740i is a luxury cruiser not a musclecar and my 70 is retired for now. My original username was red70goat (I think. I can't remember the password) Never been to Chicago, never owned a Lincoln, never driven an Indy Car. Sorry.

Hmmm, so you just didn't hit the "forgot password" button and get your password? So you re-registered not as your old username or close to it but as a troll named whatza monaro?? just to argue with people?

Yea, somehow I am not buying it. I think it is time to get the moderators involved and have you removed.

It's been fun...

&gt;&gt;&gt; Well, maybe you're enough of an idiot to continue to drive a 34 yr. old car that is need of restoring and continue to get more wear and tear on it. As for me, I'll retire it until I've got enough $ to bring it up to snuff. I guess being a "true Pontiac enthusiast" you would continue to drive it until it is ready for the boneyard rather than spend some serious dough to give it the attention it deserves. Smart.

You're other usename DOESN'T EXIST! I did a search on it and there isn't one.

And the only posts you have in almost a MONTH is in this forum bashing the 2004 GTO and in the Mustang thread in the Lobby.
And you claim you own a 70 GTO but no questions or posts exist by your "other" username and you're current username haven't asked anything about your "70" GTO.

Hmmm, smells like a troll to me....

Whatever. That was a year or so ago and I don't remember exactly what it was. It was something similar to red70goat. Who cares? Given that it was a year ago, and not recently used it may have been removed. As far as my public profile it does say what my 70 is. For your benefit it is a 70/400 ci / 3 spd manual...bone stock right down to the wheels. Who's fishing for an argument now troll?
