Pete's book lists the 483677 as 71 455 HO specific & the 485428 as 1971 455 & LATE 455 HO.
Perhaps somebody with a late HO can tell us what they've got? |

As far as I know, the 485428 were cast starting in late 1970 (December maybe) and were used for all 455s (HOs or otherwise) up through 1974, other than SDs. I know the 483677 castings started in summer of '70 sometime and were definitely used for HOs, but can't find any other casting for that timeframe for non-HOs. I am sure some standard 455s were built prior to the 485428 and after the 1970 carryovers ran out. The reason why I ask is that I found a 483677 block with 4-bolt main&caps but with a YC code (definitely YC, not WC). Seemed odd to me so I figured I would check with others here.

Thank you. I have a 71 455HO 4speed with 373,s. The car is totally stock right down to the 1267 carb. I will post pictutures as soon as I figure out how.

So in my quest to find a correct "YB" block, what casting should I be looking for - my dad's '72 is a late '71 build.
Am I looking for the #677 or the #428? Is there a consensus  yet as to what a '72 HO should have in it. I have a '73 SR in the car right now...TIA Andrew

What's the earliest date you seen on an intake?
Mine is a 6-23-70 and crossover is dated 6-1-70. My car is an 08D.

I just bought one on EBAY, got it in the mail today. My '71 (9A) date judges intake was cast 7-30-70, can't tell you the crossover date(and it's back together). But the one I bought....intake cast 6-25-70, and the crossover with (1094) choke housing still intack has part number 9796395 cast 4-30-70...DW
