Well, it appears as tho they're running for class wins, in Super Stock, today. But the Stockers ran their 1st round of final eliminations.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop Sam Biondo won his GT/CA class. ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Randi Lyn improved her qualifying position, with a 10.471 pass, but couldn't get it hooked up and lost the 1st round of eliminations. Todd Hoven ran his dial, for a 1st round win. ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 06-10-2016 at 02:43 PM. |

Todd Hoven lost round 2, so the Pontiac Stockers are gone.
![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Sam Biondo survived round 1 of SS. ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop I thought this was interesting. They are going to run a "Street Legal" class, and an 11.50 index class. Don't know if this is the 1st time for these, at a National event, or not. ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Last edited by ponyakr; 06-11-2016 at 12:08 PM. |

There's a national event in Bristol, Tenn, and a div 5 race at Bandimere Speedway, in Colorado. There are 4 Pontiac Stockers in Bristol. Tommy Pettigrew has the highest qualified Pontiac.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop I assume that Scott Burton will have his 2 cars at the div 5 race. The Warlings may also have their 2 cars in action. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Good luck to all Pontiac powered racers this week !

Looks like there are 4 Stockers and 2 Super Stockers with Pontiac power, at the div 5 race.

Well ya'll, there are 4 Pontiac Stockers in Thunder Valley. And, all 4 have won their first 3 rounds !
![]() There are only 5 cars left. So, that means the worst the Pontiacs can do is a RU and a semi-final. Or, they could get winner & RU. I love an all Pontiac final ! ![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Randi Lyn gets the bye in round 4. If Michael Brand can beat the FS/C, 9 sec late model, in round 4, that means there'll only be 3 cars left, and they'll ALL be Pontiac powered ! Last edited by ponyakr; 06-18-2016 at 02:09 PM. |

Well, I hate to report bad news. But, Michael tripped the red eye, and his opponent will get the semi-final bye run.
![]() http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop But, all is not lost. There will be 1 Pontiac in the final round. Could still have a Pontiac winner.

Not a good ending--the Pontiac also tripped the red light, in the final.
The winner only cut 1 good light during elims, but won anyhow. We've experienced that. Sometimes you get a bye, a couple of opponents red light, 1 gets a bad light, and one breaks or can't make a full pass for some reason, and you win the race without having to make a decent run. It happens. And the next race you may lose 1st round, even tho you make a good pass. That's racing. Sometimes it takes skill and precision--sometimes just luck. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop I'm disappointed at the outcome of this race, but, I don't recall a national event where 4 of the last 5 cars were Pontiac powered. It may have happened sometime in history. Don't know. Anyhow that'll have to be enuff for Pontiac fans, for this event.

Qualifying has been delayed by rain, at Norwalk.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...14433#indextop Looks like the pre-entry list shows Pontiac power in 2 Stockers, 1 Super Stocker, and 2 in Super Gas. Don't know if they'll all make the race, or not. https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...NO1&cc=8&rn=12 https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...NO1&cc=7&rn=12 https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...O1&cc=10&rn=12 Good luck to all Pontiac racers !

The 1st round of qualifying is done, in Stock & SS, at Norwalk. Julie Biermann & Randi Lyn Shipp both qualified in the high 10's, with their 1st gen Birds.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...14438#indextop Jim Clark qualified his SS/AM '00 GA, with a 9.05. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop I'm not familiar with the SS/AM rules. Jim's GA is listed with a 439 Pontiac engine. So, for some of you guys who know, or at least have a rule book, what are the engine rules for this class ? ![]() This is all I've found, so far. "...Super Stock Modified. These are the old Modified Production classes of Modified Eliminator. Seven classes, SS/AM to SS/GM. These cars are allowed the most modifications of just about any S/S class(es). Dual-four barrel carburetors are used by the majority of the cars..." Last edited by ponyakr; 06-23-2016 at 07:07 PM. |

Modified production was one of my favorite classes to watch back in the day. If this SS/M* class is basically the same it should be very interesting.
Sometime around 74 they created A/SM thru C/SM after M/P had gone away. IIRC A/SM was limited to 366 cubes and single carb and weight was maybe 3200 lbs? It turned into Small Block Camaro Fest. Interest faded a few years later. |

Randy Lyn survived round 1 of stock elims.
http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop Jim Clark improved his qualifying position, in SS, with an 8.581, which appears to be the quickest ET of any Super Stocker. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop He also won his 1st round, with an 8.635 on an 8.63 dial. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop Both Pontiac powered Super Gas cars won their 1st round. Doug Kroft had the only car to run a perfect 9.900. Tim Gillespie also won, with his 505 powered '33 Ford. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop So, 4 Pontiac powered cars survive to race on Sat.

It's time for some drag racers to get their kicks at Route 66.
![]() There are 3 Pontiac powered Stockers, entered. Tommy Pettigrew has the highest qualified Pontiac, @ .787 under, with his '77 Bird. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop After 2 rounds of SS, Greg Meyer's 3rd gen GT Bird is in #5 qualifying position, with a .915 under run of 10.135. http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...UMMIT#indextop According to the pre-entry list, Doug Croft & Tim Gillespie are entered in Super Gas. http://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEven...I1&cc=10&rn=13 There is also a S/ST Chevy listed as having a Pont 540, and another GT car listed with a Pont 350. Don't know if either car actually has Pontiac power ? http://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEven...CI1&cc=9&rn=13 http://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEven...CI1&cc=7&rn=13 Last edited by ponyakr; 07-07-2016 at 05:00 PM. |

There's a div race out in the Great Northwest. In Fri qualifying, Ryan Warter & Don Elgin represented Pontiac power, with their Stockers. Don't know if Brad Burton or any other Pontiac racers made it to the race today or not. ?
