LOL I could 'smell' the punchline coming from a mile away and it was still funny.

...many years ago when the Fly Cartoons were kind of popular, my favorite was the one with the Fly, wearing a housecoat, sitting at the breakfast table waiting for the "Mr. Piss" (as in Mr. Coffee) machine to fill his empty pot...I've searched for that one for years...seems like Playboy or Penthouse had these toons back then

we saw a few quick vw's at the cajuns--bear barrilleaux built some of them--i think he set several records, saw them workin on the engines & trannys on tables they had set up in the pits. there's an interesting youtube video of an interview with him--just google his name. i seem 2 remember the girl in the pic at the cajuns drivin the dragster--thought her name was ann--but its been a long time--memory fuzzy on that.

Very cool! That's the SMI sponsored Billy Meyer Funny Car, and that's Billy standing on the right.

Again; great pics! And yes - where is the sound to go with them?!!
Looking over your photos spread reminds me that Center Line Aluminum wheels were THE WHEEL on EVERYTHING and now, even w restorations on same period drag cars, more often than not seems they have anything other than the CL's... Nice clear breather/ valve cover shot of the '69 Goat in this pic too. |

i thought this was an interesting shot--a dragster runnin a funny, with a portable tower mounted on a truck, in the background. we raced on several old airstrips. some were ex military. maybe they wouldn't let anyone build permanent buildings on the property--probably just rented or leased--whatever, its a cool pic!

just noticed something else in the carlisle pic--its the 5 amber tree--thats what we had in the '70's & 80's. lots easier 2 get in sync with the lights. so--who remembers when most tracks switched 2 the 3 amber tree?
