Danica Patrick threatens to kick male driver in cherries


Danica Patrick has a long history of confronting other drivers when they do something to upset her. Just last month she grabbed Denny Hamlin on pit road following an accident between the two in a Daytona 500 qualifying race.

The most recent incident involving Patrick came after Sunday's race at Phoenix International Raceway where according to Alex Bowman, Patrick threatened to kick him in a very sensitive area. Apparently Patrick was angered how hard Bowman, multiple laps down, had raced her and expressed that frustration in the garage post-race.

Bowman shared the exchange on Twitter, even acknowledging he made a mistake in not knowing Patrick was the same lap as the leaders. But Patrick was having none of his apology and when pressed for details on what transpired, Bowman explained.

To the credit of the Ice Princess, yesterday she tied Janet Guthrie's record for most top 10 finishes by a female in NASCAR's top series.

Of course, Janet set that record in her 25th start driving part time in the series. It took the Ice Princess 88 starts to get to 5 top 10's while driving some of the best equipment available as a full time competitor...

Coming from a lap down by using a Lucky Dog is nothing to be impressed with. Just means that she was the beneficiary of a timely caution.

Putting things in perspective, on Kevin Harvick's worst finish of the season, Danica was able to finish 1 spot in front in her best performance of the year.

But the touring princess never led a lap while Kevin led the race 8 different times for a total of 154 laps. Harvick earned more points for the race than the ice princess because he was actually racing for the win...

Tony and Kurt also earned bonus points for leading the race. They were also racing for a chance to win - not just making laps.

Everyone's quiet about Tire-Gate?

No surprise now that so many tires have been going flat for no apparent reason.

If NASCAR would get their head out of their a$$ and just allow the tire bleeders there would be no cause to punch tiny relief holes in the tires to bleed off excess pressure from heat buildup.

Their all about safety from what their propaganda says, however punching holes in the tire to cause a controlled leak leading to many flat tires as well as starting out with 8-12 # of air in the tires isn't safe. I really don't know or haven't heard any feeble reason for them not to allow tire bleeders.

Many other forms of racing allow tire bleeders, no reason for NASCAR not to if they are in fact all about safety as the say they are. Right off the bat their going to save the track and car owners money by not wadding up safer barriers and race cars due to blown RF tires slamming the cars into into the walls. Less wrecks, less drivers hurt.

It's like them taking forever to switch over to FI replacing carburetors. By 1987 almost every car produced had FI, so staying with the idea of stock cars NASCAR should have switched within 2-3 years. Around 1980 carbs should have been on their way out.

With all of the GM cars having to use a SBC design engine with the mechanical fuel pump on the right front corner of the engine and bending of the frame in a collision of the RF corner of the car caused the mechanical fuel pump to shear off and cause a gas and oil fire under the hood. Yep, no doubt that NASCAR is all about safety..........NOT

Shares of GoDaddy Inc., a technology provider to small businesses, jumped 31% in their market debut Wednesday as investors piled into the company known nearly as much for its racy television commercials as it is for selling Web domains.

The stock opened and closed at $26.15, 31% above its higher-than-expected initial public offering price. During the day, GoDaddy shares—which trade on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “GDDY”—traded between $25.49 and $26.84.

GoDaddy has been working to make over its image, and the company’s IPO is part of that plan, according to people close to the company. Gone are commercials with model Bar Refaeli and race-car driver Danica Patrick.

The company also wants to promote that it does more than sell Web domains: It also helps customers get their websites running, grows their business, and sells them products. The company seeks to convince its 13 million customers to buy newer services like company-specific email addresses, bookkeeping software and e-commerce tools.

The broader product strategy is potentially more lucrative, but it also exposes GoDaddy to a fleet of rivals vying for small-business owners. It is an open question whether GoDaddy can remain relevant as scores of tech firms pursue a similar approach.


Shifting the brand’s identity now won’t be easy, said Allen Adamson, chairman of the North America region for branding firm Landor Associates. “It’s hard to go from something edgy and trendy and outrageous into what’s necessary to succeed in a [business-to-business] world,” he said.

In IPO documents, the company said there “can be no assurance that we will succeed in repositioning our brand, or that by doing so we will grow our total customers, increase our revenue or maintain our current high level of brand recognition.”

GoDaddy in December 2012 hired technology-product executive Blake Irving as chief executive, signaling a push to upgrade the company’s technology. The company opened offices in Silicon Valley and the Boston area to attract high-caliber talent. Since 2010, spending on technology operations has more than doubled, a faster pace than GoDaddy’s revenue growth over the same period.

Perhaps a bigger change—and the one on which GoDaddy is hitching its fortune—is the shift to providing a more extensive range of services from selling Web domains.

The company increasingly has pitched add-ons like website hosting or running the computers that keep a company’s website online. GoDaddy also sells email addresses customized to a company name, digital security features and versions of Microsoft Office software tailored for tiny businesses. A GoDaddy service called Get Found automatically creates listings on Facebook, Yelp and other digital spots where people look for business information.

Sales of the newer GoDaddy services have grown at least twice as fast as domain sales and have fatter profit margins. Continued growth in customer sign-ups plus the new services have pushed up average annual revenue from each GoDaddy customer to $114 in 2014 from $93 in 2012. Still, GoDaddy generates more than half its revenue from domain sales.

Technology companies increasingly are targeting small businesses, hoping to turn mom-and-pop operations into a foundation for growing their own businesses. Hopefuls include payments company Square Inc., e-commerce tools provider Shopify Inc. and online-marketing firm Yodle Inc. Shopify and Yodle are planning IPOs this year, The Wall Street Journal has previously reported.

So far, public investors have embraced only tepidly the idea that small businesses are a big opportunity. Shares of small-business domain seller Endurance International Group Holdings Inc. are up 59% since their first day of trading in 2013, while shares of Wix.com Ltd. are up 14% since their public debut.

Investors are pricing these firms at lower valuations than other Internet companies. Wix trades at about five times revenue, and Endurance at about four times. That compares to an average of eight times revenue for companies in the Bessemer Venture Partners’ Cloud Computing Index, which mostly consists of companies that provide Web-based services to big firms. GoDaddy, at its high Wednesday, had a market value about three times its revenue.

GoDaddy priced its initial public offering at $20 a share late Tuesday, above expectations. The deal raised $460 million by selling 23 million shares. The company had planned to sell 22 million shares between $17 and $19, according to a regulatory filing.

The total doesn’t include a so-called overallotment option, which gives underwriters the opportunity to sell additional shares under certain circumstances. Morgan Stanley,J.P. Morgan and Citigroup led the deal.

How does anyone look at GoDaddy and see an image that is "edgy"? Their image is the same as K-Mart's. Their logo and website look dated and tacky as does their TV advertising.
Google started registering domain names in the last year. As my 50 domain names come up for renewal, I've moved all of them out of GoDaddy and into Google Domains. I used to host with GoDaddy but now buy hosting from several different companies.

GoDaddy is not a start up, it is a 20 year old company that is not profitable and which has a mountain of debt.
It is the debt ridden carcass left after a Private Equity company bought it through high leverage, sucked all the cash out, and now placed an IPO.
Its operating loss improved to $61.9 million in FY14 from $131.9 million in FY13 . It has $1.4bln in debt.
And it has NO TECHNOLOGY EDGE.

Some people are excited that she's 16th in the points and Chase eligible (DW - the drooler - for instance).

To put her 16th place in the points into perspective after 9 races - Kurt Busch (and it's well documented I'm not a fan of either of the Bash Brothers) is only 8 points behind her and he missed the first 3 races of the season.

It's entirely possible that after Talladega she could be back in the 20's in the point standings and dropping further after that.

All Tony has to do is have a good day and win a race and he's in.

I guess that Danica would be in if she won a race, but as Richard Petty said, the only way that could happen is "if everybody else stayed home."

DW's comment on the Patrick/Mears incident early in the race at Richmond was something to the effect of "Mears drove up into Patrick.".

It was clear to anyone watching that Mears held his line and Danica tried to fill a hole that wasn't there on the inside.

Later on in the race DW did change his story and say it was "just a racing incident", but still failed to acknowledge the obvious fact that Danica was the clear reason for the incident. Anyone think that Fox had got some negative feedback about the "Drooler"...

"That's where I have a problem, where fans have bought into the hype of the marketing, to think she's a race car driver," he said. "She can go fast, and I've seen her go fast. She drives the wheels off it when she goes fast."

The King always had that stupid saying, but it's true, `Lots of drivers can drive fast, but very few drivers can race.' Danica has been the perfect example of somebody who can qualify better than what she runs. She can go fast, but she can't race."
