Stranger things have happened.

Late afternoon race at a midwestern track, NASCAR has one of their French guy cautions, everyone except Danica pits, rain starts they call it quickly giving her the win.

Of course she would have to be on the lead lap, car still running, but it could happen.

She (her personally, not just the fact that she is a woman) is part of the problem with NASCAR. She was never part of the solution.

BTW - anyone notice how Kurt Busch did fine with her former crew chief in the last 3 races (8th, 7th and 11th), while Danica finished 36th, 22nd and 18th with Kurt's former crew chief?

It's not the crew chief, it's not the equipment, it's the driver.

As if it couldn't get any better -- NASCAR changes Sprint Unlimited eligibility; Danica Patrick allowed in.

http://www.sbnation.com/nascar/2014/...danica-patrick

NASCAR would be way ahead today if they would have "helped" a female with talent rather than a female with Indy 500 buzz. A number of capable women would have won a few races by now --

"While Truex may not be enough to capture the attention of the casual fan, the same cannot be said of Patrick, one of the sport's most popular and recognizable figures."

She may be one of the most recognizable figures - but that doesn't make her popular.

She used to be a novelty. Now she's just stale bread.

Doesn't surprise me that you would bring it up, though...

But what is their to talk about?

I've known since 2003 when Sprint/Nextel first bought the NASCAR sponsorship that they would have to bailout on this someday. They have one of the worst networks in the country and never could afford this sponsorship.

They thought that having a a premium sponsorship would make people forget they have a crappy product.

And even though Sprint still has to pay NASCAR for the 2015 and 2016 season, they won't be bringing their 15,000-square-foot Sprint Experience interactive display area at NASCAR tracks anymore - not that it really matters.

Having been to many races over the last 12 years, I can tell you that the Sprint Experience was never even close to what Winston used to do when they were the title sponsor.

By becoming the NASCAR title sponsor - they booted the companies that bought Alltel (now Verizon) and Cingular (now AT&T) from being able to be involved in the sport. Alltel used to sponsor Ryan Newman with Penske and Cingular used to sponsor Jeff Burton with Childress.

For Verizon and AT&T - that was a bad deal. For Sprint - they should have used those millions of $$$ to build a better network.

It didn't take NASCAR long to replace Nationwide as the sponsor for the lower series. And Nationwide only dropped that sponsorship so they could devote more time and money to Dale Jr.

If you have a good product - a NASCAR sponsorship makes you money!
