Default Road Paver idle sounds

Here’s 2 cell phone videos of the RP on a 112 LSA in my 10.8-1 CR 517. Really pretty tame. SD Dave wanted a cam about 10 degrees larger @ .050 and said it would be worth as much as 25HP on this set up and still be very streetable but I was worried about around town drive ability.
Maybe someday down the road I’ll try the bigger cam out.

Sounds good I should record my exhaust see if it sounds any good with my phone. The exhaust note changed at idle with the OF 2.0 cam vs the OF and 1/2 a point more compression.

Sounds great- 517 CID has a way of smoothing out a large cam!

I agree, 246 @ .050 is fairly small for a 517. We've run that much through 455's and similar BBC's here on 110's, and find them very street friendly. Sounds good through the Dynomax mufflers though, and probably drives like a pussy cat. Put some miles on it and have some fun.

Thanks. After all of the delays and set backs I’m happy with how it turned out. There’s still a ton of untapped potential left in it though.
It’s funny but I always seem to be late to the party. When 400HP was the hot setup by the time I got there 500HP was common. When that was reached the bar was raised to 600. I get there and it jumps all the way to 1000. My bucket list thing to do is have the chambers in the heads opened up and force feed some air through it. Probably never happen but we can all dream.

That Dominator of yours would open it up a bit and still drive nice. The 850DP on it now pulls 2” vacuum over 5000 RPM.

TCS,
I have the same SD 330 cfm CNC ported e-heads- planning to run them and the Road Paver on a 455 (stock 4.21" stroke now). Would stroking the 455 to 4.5" make the RP more streetable? Of course I want the 600+hp, but still wanting some driveability.

Geno

I'll let TCS respond with his experience but I don't necessarily need to add capacities to the motor to make it more streetable. What CR are you intending to get to, auto or stick, rear end gear ?
