Never stopped working, but some of our jobs got moved to the fall or next spring. Nice going to the AirPort and being able to park close, no long lines at ticketing or TSA, and quick boarding. The mask wearing thing the airlines will start doing won't "fly" with me so hopefully they keep me close to home, at home, or give me enough lead time to drive to site's.

Exactly same here. The commuting is great in SoCal right now!

Speaking of air travel, I have some customers who own aircraft, so I also deal with those parts. Here is an engine support/landing gear frame for a Piper that we restored last week.

I just hope most of the people who were laid off will get called back so we can get more people working ASAP. It only took a month of this lockdown to tank a very strong economy.

I know of no one who's not working. They're either at their place of employment or working at home. I know ONE PERSON who had COVID-19. He is 71 years old, got pneumonia, went to the hospital for three days, is now recovered and at home. We all have opinions about the "Stay at Home" rules, but wouldn't it make sense to open up the country and allow those who want to stay isolated do so? What's wrong with that idea?

Please don't start another big debate about COVID-19. That wasn't the question, and as we've seen all the previous discussions ended up getting locked.

I work for U.S Steel, we have been shipping pipe, but are down to 32hr weeks. The pipe industry was slowing as the oil prices were dropping, then tanked. We were issued W.A.R.N notices for layoffs coming soon.

I work as a machinist in a small job shop and we haven't taken any time off yet but work is slowing down. No PPE, nobody sick so far. We will need to see an economic recovery by around July 1st or there will some layoffs.

Haven't missed a day....or night, that is.
26 people in my organization have tested positive, one 53 y.o. man died from it.

The good thing Steve is that I don't have to engage the 'dumb-masses' that frequent public transit. When I get to work I have usually 3~5 guys to inspect and sign off on. We are in a secure area with limited access to only a few employees out of the roughly 5000 total employees. Maybe 150 people or so and out of that 150 or so, an individual or two will only be there when they have a specific problem there in that exact location.
One thing I had to request is that they stop changing our crews every few weeks on a whim. They generally have me with, lets say, the same three guys for 4 or 5 weeks and there are 4 or 5 of those crews going all the time....and then for no good reason, they like to split us up and send each one of the crew to 3~5 different crews of 3~4 people each. In other words, they like to 'stir the pot'.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that if one person got exposed, you're looking at on the 3~4 other people working with that person, out of our group, that would have come into contact with him.. When they break you up, you've now sent each one of those 3~4 out to 3~4 new people EACH. Do the math.
Of course, the people that make the schedules are working from the safety of home... :/

Im still working, I work at a large coal power plant. To give you an Idea of how slow SE Michigan is right now... the plant has 4 units capable of running 3300MW but right now we are only running one unit at 700MW. All the Auto plants are down. The good news is there is no layoffs and were doing maint. work until summer and demand will go back up.

I spent 40 years in the pipe fitting business ,something that doesn't make any sense is closing the building, and not letting construction continue,,THEY always want it done so as to not effect education, non professionals making decisions

When a cat is dropped it always lands on its feet. When buttered toast is dropped it always lands with the buttered side facing down. If a piece of buttered toast was attached to the back of a cat, when dropped, the cat/buttered toast combination should hover, spinning just above the ground, as it tries unsuccessfully to resolve the inevitable conflict of non-scientific certainties.
