Default New best

The local track opened for a test and tune today and the air was really good.
DA was 410’ on this pass which is about as mineshafty as it gets around here. All 4 passes were between 10.602 and 10.672. Dead calm with no wind to speak of. Previous best 10.70 last fall was at 50’.
The staff did an excellent job all day prepping the starting line and keeping it glued down as they usually do there.

Staged at 1600 and shifted both gears at 5500 on all runs. Have gone higher in the past but it runs about the same if not slightly slower shifting up near 6k.
Timing was 38 total, my Quickfuel based mash-up Frankencarb 950 was jetted 80/88 with a PV up front, 28HSAB’s and 73LSAB’s and 40/40 squirters with 50cc pump and brown cam in no.1 up front and 30cc with blue cam in no1 in the back.

Drove 120 miles round trip and got 8mpg,barely. Left with a full tank and came back with a 1/4.

Congrats!
Nice pass!
This late in the year getting any pass up north would be nice.

No doubt, they always do a nice job there getting things ready even for test n tunes which is unusual at a lot of tracks these days.
Made 4 passes. All between 10.602 and 10.672 and 60’ times between 1.45 and 1.48. The variance was probably from me doing something slightly different and not the car or the track.

Thats a fast true street car, congratulations. Do you put some slicks in the trunk or drive out on radials and let her rip ?

I been running a pair of Hoosier 275 drag radials the last 2 summers on the street. They are the best hooking DOT tire I’ve ever had on the street and strip plus they ride really nice too. They had 19psi in them yesterday at the track.
I’ll take them off for the winter and keep them inside in plastic bags in the basement.

It’s one of those 9.5” TSP’s that Cliff is associated with. Flashes to around 43-4400 and by my calculations has around 5% slip at the top end of the track.
It is looser on the street than one of Continental Jim Hand models but you can still feel the shifts. This one I had built probably leans more toward the strip than street but isn’t bad at all around town. It’s definitely tighter at low speeds than a Continental 10” 4400 stall I had tried in the past.
