I think it’s 63. My 62 Cat does not have self adjusters.

I was thinking it might be 1963. Is it feasible to convert the earlier years to self adjusting? Anyone up to speed on that possibility? Thx 4 any feedback.

They sell conversion kits but I pulled hardware off a '64.
Never got around to installing it but the one external mod needed is to create a slot so as to back off the self adjuster when needed.

I converted my 1962 to self adjusters in the rear when I converted the front to disc brakes. I figured one less thing to maintain later. I ordered parts for a 1970 Chevy from Rock Auto.

1963 or 1964 parts can be used to make the brake self adjusting. I have heard, but can't verify that doing this conversion can cause over-adjustment of the brakes and some brake drag. This can overheat the drums, particularly 8-lugs. On my 62, I just check the adjustment each time I change the oil. Usually only takes 10 minutes tops to adjust the 4 wheels. Then good for another year.

Self adjuster have been on cars for 60 years. They are not going to screw up your brakes. I used 1970 Chevy adjusters because I couldn't find early Pontiac ones and Chevy used the same size brakes.
