Default Is $30,000 too much

Considering adding this to the Bird nest, only asking for opinions as a guide, because although I’ve had many birds over the years, They were project cars. This one is all original survivor car only needs a few touch ups.

It has 32k miles, 4 speed car, no air or t-tops but EXTREMELY well taken care of and clean as hell. I haven’t been able to find anything to compare it too. But thinking of making an offer. Oh it’s a 1977.

Thanks!

My conclusion after graduating from the school of hard knocks is that this is the kind of car to buy. You might pay a little premium up front but you can usually sell for close to what you paid at a minimum.

Looks good in the pictures, have you been able to see it in person?

I must add I’m not buying this one as an investment, although it very well could be one some day.

Not yet, it’s on consignment, going this weekend. I’ve seen pics of the undercarriage, and that is one of the touch up things that need addressed. We will have them put it on the lift to go over everything! The headliner looks like it is coming loose, and the shift knob is missing the button.

Nice looking TA MaryAnn, but at 29,500! The master cylinder is rusty.

I'm looking at a blue 79 TA 400 4speed. A 79 Formula would be better but haven't seen one in black around anywhere. Been thinking of selling the GTO, but haven't made up my mind yet.

Thanks!

I recently paid $27,000 for an original paint garage kept red on black '75 T/A 400 4 speed with 37,000 originai miles. Anything priced less was an automatic or a beat cobbled together POS.

Interesting spare tire (comparatively) and trunk mat/covering.

Yeah as I mentioned it does need some touch up, but with that mileage i’d expect it to not be show room perfect, will know more on the weekend when we go see it in person, but thought I’d get a little feedback here as a guide to a possible offer.

Interesting how? In a correct way? Or other? You guys pointing things out to me here will further add to my list of things that will reflect my offer.

Trunk mat is new. I have never seen a space saver spare with that tread design. I'm guessing it is from a newer car.

Hmmmm I was thinking it looked kind of big, I have another TA and the space saver spare doesn’t look that big. Interesting catch.

Overall, from the pics provided, it looks like a very nice car. The pics are taken/cropped very carefully. From what I can see from the way they are taken, here are a few little tid-bit items. 1. center emblem missing from shifter knob, 2. Looks like the head liner is falling out, very common. 3. It may have an aftermarket radio. I just can't tell from the way the pic was taken. 4. If it does have an aftermarket radio, it looks like the package shelf may be cut to fit larger, different speakers in the back. Of course make sure door panels, kick panels haven't been cut for speakers as well. No pics of those areas. Not that any of this would be a show stopper in any way. In the current market, the price is in line from what I see. Hard to beat "resale red with a parchment interior". Worth a look in person certainly. Good luck.

Spare is exactly like mine. Pull up the entire trunk mat to look. Put your hand between the engine subframe and floor bottom, feel around real good. Get your head under the car, where the tail pipes exit, look carefully there and all around the lips of the rear wheel wells.

My at has been rusting at the base of the pass side windshield pillar and the dash in same area will need repaired there. I have unfortunately had to store mine outside a lot of it’s life. I have reduced my debt recently and will be renting a completely enclosed garage storage unit for my Burt (LOL).

I have a friend that mostly buys VERY nice cars, that are complete, it’s really the best way to go vs building or restoring a car like your Burt, or my original owner car. I’ll never let my car go, ever, regardless of what it’s condition is.

Go for it! BUT, if you find ANY rust, call BS on the owner! Go from there!!!

The pics were taken by the place consigning the car. They have a guy that just does that there. And yes the missing knob and the headliner issue do stand out, but.... they aren’t trying to avoid those flaws in the pictures, they show them clearly.

Do you like the car? Satisfied with the options and color combo? The price close to what you'd be willing to pay? Then I say proceed!
