Cost of doing a cat back is not a budgetary option this month. I just went with a muffler to change the sound a little.

there is a "bolt in" 3 inch dual system by Kooks, its pretty nice (read pricey)

I was designing a true dual system in 2.5 for my Trans Am, and their system helped me with some of the problems I had routing mine.

Time to do something about this now. Do I need the regulator and the motor or just the motor?

And to what degree of difficulty is it to get the door panels off without cracking them?

From what I've read just replace the motor. Dorman seems to have a better quality motor.
Check out LS1Tech.com and LS1.com, there is a lot of info about how to replace the motors. I'm going to be in this same boat sometime......mine runs kinda slow.

This might be a little late, but...

You can usually just replace the motor, but if this is the first time you might want to pick up the whole motor and regulator kit. Also, since you are taking it apart, check out AutoTrix Passenger Fix Kit - This wires directly to your battery so the passenger motor is getting a full 12 volts instead of taking power off the driver motor. Makes it faster and makes the motor last longer.
