Default 30th Anniv. TA Track Car WIW

A friend of mine has a 30th anniversary TA vert track car that he is considering trading for another muscle car. It's a fully documented Festival Car with less than 1,000 miles.

Well depending if was an actual track car,I know it is very hard to produce documentation from an actuall track car and one of the festival cars that all paced the track together or the actuall pace car...many were used in parades for the race that said they all are rare cars.
I'd say with that mileage from 45k-60k

One with less than 10k miles on it, a 6 speed convertible sold at Auctions America Spring Carlisle in April of this year for $32,450.

4,500 mile 6-speed one at Mecum in Anaheim in November of this year was a no sale at $28,000.

....and there is also one in Hemmings this month in Lakewood, CA for $13,000.

What kind of car is he looking for?

Don't know.

I seem to remember about 50 of the convertibles at Daytona when I was there that year - not sure if they are that rare.

Im trying to remember how many were there myself.
If I remember right each driver was in the back of one for a parade lap so thats 43 right there
and there were at least 2 pace cars(3 if I remember right)

A friend of mine was in charge of setting up all the pace and courtesy cars so I ll ask him if he still got info on what was what if youre interested.

Edit
Im having an argument with myself on the parade lap cars, thinking now there were 2 drivers in the back of each car

further research on net says there were only 10 Daytona convertibles but Im saying BS to that.
So was my first thought correct on one for each driver or was that the 02s Im thinking of?

you know what they say....2nd thing to go is the memory and I forgot what the 1st was.

I was at Daytona that year, and during the trip ordered my 30th vert from McNamara Pontiac in ORlando.

THere were a lot more than 10 on the track. More like 40-50. Pace cars were coupes.

Anyone could order the stripe kit to make any 30th look like a festival car. And I could do that to mine today if I wanted to as well.

No proof, like vin verified by some legitmate document, I wouldn't pay any extra at all.

That being said if you do have a legitamate car that was on the track with the drivers, you have one of 43 at most.

Unfortunately there isn't much market for those 43 cars or the guy would have sold it outright, now wouldn't he.

Thanks for that input Keith.
30 cars were used as parade cars,15 manual trans and 15 autos.
My hunch of 2 drivers per car was correct.

Do you still have the car?
as for the figure of 10 thats what was floating around on net
Alot of BS out there on these.
