Default Block prep before filling

I am going to fill my block to just under the freezeplugs.
How have you cleaned the coolant passages succesfully before filling at home?
I would like to not block the drain plugs on the block, best method?

my iron block was dry (cooked, shot peened exterior), then i used a stiff plastic tube adapted to the Entral Vacuum to suck up any loose rust/scale.

Any time the engine was apart, the block fill integrity seemed to appear excellent, well-wetted to the block.

I really don't know that I would even bother to fill the block up to just the bottom of the freeze / core plugs, you want to fill up to just below the water pump holes to add good strength to the bores.

Have the bores been sonic tested ?

If so how do they check out?

I wonder if you could use muriatic acid or evapo-rust to clean the inside better.

I was thinking about evaporust as well. Anyone tried?
I have not had the bores sonic tested.
Filling to the water pump holes, how will that effect cooling? Street engine. Would that leave any space for coolant at all..? Engine will be 4.160 bore 4.5" stroker. 400 block.

how will that effect cooling?

Discussed many times. Here one of many threads on the subject....

It actually makes the floor of the water passage smoother and assists flow and heat transfer heat better.
And that area down at the very bottom gets very little water circulation anyway on a un-filled block (some suggest a 'dead' area). It is correct it will not effect water temps to any great degree after filling and some actually report it runs cooler.
