Better seats?
I need to get something a little better than stock seating in my '79 TA. I've always know the seats weren't great. When I had it at Lime Rock a couple of year ago I was expending a tremendous amount of energy just trying to keep myself from sliding around in the car- one knee against the console and one knee against the door. It really made driving at speed around the track quite exhausting!
Early this summer I got another "handling" car and the seats are soooo much better in it. Now when I get in the TA, the seats feel even worse by comparison. I want to keep the car looking stock, or at least close to it at a glance. My car has the black, full vinyl seats. What are you guys using that gives some support but looks "stock-ish"?

1996 Corvette. It does require a bit of work regarding the seatbelt guide and mounting.

Those vette seats look nice. I know of a guy that got a set out of a late model nissan Z car that looked pretty good. Of course theres always finding a set of recarros.

procar rally are excellent seats & the high side bolsters hold you in place very well. they are very comfortable for normal driving... & they recline!
i use them in my 72 firebird with the vinyl rear seats & the vertical stitching matches very well to the stock seats. they can be ordered in different colors too. they come with universal tracks but can order tracks for most cars for extra $ or what i did was made custom brackets to use the factory tracks. im very happy with them after 5+ years of use. https://www.summitracing.com/search/...ies-1000-seats |

In the 80s had Recaros in my 78 when I autocrossed. Loved the fit but they are heavy. Put the factory back in when I was showing/racing in NMCA in the 90s looking at recovering the Recaros in factory appearing vinyl to match the rear seats.

Corbeau's are nice, great sliders
i had the guy who made flofit seats back in the day make custom brackets since i am tall to help lower the seats down i've used so many Corbeau seats I really like the A4's now, the CR1s sat a little to high for me, but REALLY comfortable, especially for pleasantly plump guys like me the A7's i bought in the 90s were nice too, but did slide around a little with the cloth seat covering now i have their suede seats, only gripe is out in the summer sun..... make sure you wear 100% cotton shirt... other than that its like you are glued in to the seats |

I bought Recaro Specialist M in cloth and am having them upholstered in factory appearing vinyl and pattern (‘70). I spent time in many aftermarket seats, and I thought the specialists had the best balance of support, comfort and appearance.

4th gen seats work very well and pretty easy fit.
