Default 1986 Aerocoupe Assist

Hi!

I have my friend's Aerocoupe and it needs a little love. I was wondering if anybody knew:

• If I can use other GP parts from that year for things like shocks and stabilizer bushings, etc.
• Who would be a good source for parts, including weather strip, gaskets, etc.
• Interior components like rear seat backs and headliner

This car has a moisture problem and all the glass has to be reset; the strip which wipes the window as it moves is pretty much gone. It needs shocks and stabilizer bushings and will need a paint job. What stinks is that the car was restored and then sat outside for years, basically negating and benefits from the previous work.

Thank you!

Sorry for asking such silly questions! If this thread needs to move to a different area, please let me know.

George

Parts from 83-86 G-bodies will work. Buick GN suspension parts would probably help the handling. Check www.gbodyparts.com for some of the stuff you are looking for. Also for window felts contact Steele Rubber Products in Denver, North Carolina.

gbodyforum.com is a nice site much like this one, and can help with all your G body questions, as well as here.

Couple years ago he bought a GT 500 and the 2+2 was sent outside! It's going down hill fast from sitting outside, but don't think he wants to sell. I think he's 2nd owner.

When I had mine painted I had the the rear glass taken out. The shop said it didn't sit in a full window channel. In the gaps (I think they were in the lower corners), it just has sealer. The rear 1/4 glass black decals are not available. That will have to be made or painted. Mine were painted black. Make sure they measure the black out area before removing.

Suspension wise 1978-1987 G bodies are the same. A lot of the sheetmetal and the non 2+2 specific parts are 1981-1987 Grand Prix. I have a 2+2 and am building a Pontiac 455 for mine and upgrading the suspension and drivetrain.

I used the factory Oldsmobile dual exhaust cat back set up, exits behind rear wheels.

Head liner & seats are pretty straight forward for any upholstery shop, no kits but material is/was out there when I had my seats done. It was about 8-10 years ago!

Maybe the Monte weather strips would fit but don't know for sure.

Tough stuff to find is the chrome plastic that fills in the bumpers, grills, grill insert & decal.
Crest for the Nose also. I had to have mine painted on but have found the decal few years back.

If the nose is cracked best to rig up some support for behind as they easily return.
I've never seen a good nose up for sale, and pretty much the same for the rear glass!
