72 GP Power Seat Motor Cover
My first 72 GP had power bucket driver seat with a thin plastic cover over the motor in front. It was exactly like the one in the pic posted. The heavier plastic cover was underneath. The one here, kinda cracked up, was on the replacement driver bucket seat set I got for my 71 GP SJ. I can't even believe it survived the shipping. Can anyone verify if they were on 71 also? I know the replacement set I got was a 71 or 72GP. Does anyone have a good one available?

I have only seen that cover on 1972 power seat tracks that have the extra drive cable.

Thanks for the responses, Maybe I can compare my setup with the 71 service manual diagrams to verify what I have, a 71 or 72 track/motor.

GTO_6970 I have had 2 72 seats with the dual drive with a second cover like that. One seat even had a spare cable rolled up and wire tied to the seat springs , new factory spare Scott its like they used bench seat parts in em |

Yep, that's the 72-only motor cover with the 2nd drive cable.
The pre-72 power seats had one drive which was problematic for jamming the seat. You can feel the difference between the 71 and 72 cars. The solution was to have both tracks drive the power seat. And yes, the front cover is incredibly flimsy, and over the years, people kicked them with their heels when they pulled their feet back. Harvey

Pwr Seat Cover
Thanks for the great info guys. I guess I'm glad I have the 72 unit in there as much as I like originality. I did take it all apart, put new relay and clean , lube, adjust etc. everything I could so I'm invested in it, and it works nicely too. If I leave the second cover off it will look mostly 71 anyway I guess. Maybe I'll try and "restore" that cover or 3d print a replacement and use it in my 72 GP which has pwr seat but missing the cover.
