Default Plug to seal factory dipstick tube location

Curious if anyone here has plugged off their factory dipstick location when changing over to a canton pan. If so suggestions are welcome before I machine something for the job. TIA

Mine was tapped to a pipe plug size and had a pipe plug in it.

unfortunately I already installed the pan and would hate to have to remove it. I know what I should do just searching for other options first. Thank you for the reply

I removed the stick and just screwed an 1/8" pipe plug into the open end of the tube.

I just put a rubber plug over the end with a hose clamp. That way I still have access to it

When rebuilding an engine that we knew a Canton pan with it's own dipstick was going in I cut a 1" long piece of half inch rod and stuck it in the block with Ultra Grey. Pushed it in to the bottom of the hole inside the block and then smoothed more silicone on the outside of the hole to flush it off with the block.

I usually just make an aluminum slug to drive into the hole from the outside.

When i plugged the Dip-tube hole; JB Weld and a randon bolt for filler, them masking tape to shape the surface during cure. The Billet Caps motivated the plugging due to inteference with the tube thingy.

I retain the dipstick now. Factory 2- Bolt Mains make the tube thingy rather basic, even wirh SD or Aluminum rods. Really ought to like check it, now.

I did the same and used the "Right Stuff"

Worked great for me - if I have a leak or wonder - I just get out the dip stick!
