I don't think I posted this here on this thread yet (after skimming the pages), but you've probably seen it around on PY.....

Here's a write-up for those who need something to read:

Default My Baby

I started at 16 with a 72 GP in 1976 that I sold to my best friend back home and he still has it
Fast forward to 1984. When my daughter was born she came home in another
it had 32k miles and was perfect texas car . Sold it to another buddy a decade later that he swore he would never sell it to any one but me . he lied !

Fast forward again to 2015-Broken back and had a twin turbo 05 GTO and a 08 GT G8 that I couldn't drive due to ride and pain so told wife selling and finding another GP. Sold both and 3 months later another 72 with 44k on it fell into my lap . We flew to albuquerque new mexico bought it sight unseen
(big mistake lol)
Drove it 12 hours back home with no pain for first 8 hours . just a big smile on my face . Pictures attached in snow was 1st , second picture in 1984 next to my 67 GP ragtop . And last my current . I have a Grand Prix problem . all this time I have had many GTO`s and firebirds but always fall back on what started it all

Congrats! That Red on white with the white vinyl top is killer!! It sure looks clean -- why was it a big mistake to buy it sight unseen??

Wasn't as road worthy as original owner stated . It had sat for years .

Probably not what anyone would expect to see in this thread. My former 69 SJ, 428, T 400, D port iron heads, dirt track car. Balanced with TRW 12 to 1 domed slugs, reconditioned magnafluxed cast rods, deck squared block, .010 mains, .020 rods and indexed crankshaft, SD 80 PSI oil pump, circa late 1977-1980:

Not real pretty, or a show car, but there aren't many others GP oval track cars in photos. Original Verdoro green car. It was repainted white when I pulled it out of the wrecking yard (1977). After the 1980 race season it was returned to the same wrecking yard (Jay's Auto Wrecking, my sponsor), and crushed. After 2 1/2 years on the dirt track, it was used up, but in 1977 when I rescued it, it got 3 more years on life support as a race car before it was finally crushed. I've had the engine stored since 1980 just like it came out of the car. It is a 4 bolt main 428, but it's not original to that car, it came out of another 1969 SJ GP that was replaced at the Pontiac dealership I used to work at. I paid $75 for the disassembled, basket case engine in 1972.

The GP was to be replaced with a 1970 round port RA IV 455 GTO, but life got in the way and it was never completed. That engine was never assembled, I still have all the parts, and pieces ready to be assembled in my garage, and some in storage. New SD rods ported RA IV heads +.030 TRW dished pistons, balanced assembly, and a 2 bolt 455 block. I just turned 68 a couple weeks ago, I probably should do something with it while I still can.

Hey there I am a recent member here. I am trying to figure out the widest wheel that I can fit under the rear quarters and I saw the thread where you mentioned the tires on your car. If you still have it can you tell me the width of these 16" rims I believe you have on the car? Thank you so much - Jeff
