Buying a 67 bonneville (pics)
Here she is. I have a 63 cat project I dont have time or money to resto so I started looking around and found this rust free, 4bbl, 400 with original interior an headliner in b+ condition with A/c and electric seats. The sheet metal is straight and she is sitting in an airplane hangar (pilot owned). Recon those nasty rims/tires have got to go but its last two owners were over 65 so I'll forgive them.

67 bonneville
Really nice looking car. And yes the wheels and tires have to go. 14" wheels were std but the cars look much better with 15". A simple gear change in the transmission will keep the speedometer accurate for you.
IMO these cars do not look right with black walls or raised white letters. Regular white walls were what they look best in. Congradulations. |

I have an extra set of 15" steel wheels that will fit that car!

You can get the 15" steel wheels and find a set of 1969-1974 15" PMD wire wheel hubcaps. They look exactly like the 14" wires that were used in 1967.

I love the 67 Bonneville rear roof line and I always like Parchment interiors. Nice car. For some reason I like the 67 big cars. I have a GP and once had a 2+2!

15" steel wheels
Here are some pics of the wheels, 4 are matching number "KH" the fifth, with the tire mounted, is a number"HX", looks a bit different but was used as a spare, tire is not included. Let me know if you're interested.

I saw that car advertised and thought it would look better with different wheels and tires. I'd throw a set of 8 lugs on it.

8 lugs would be nice but I think I'm leaning towards something more modern. Won't be doing anything with it until spring, just got blasted with snow and arctic nastiness.

You could have the tires mounted w/ the crazy white walls in, and paint them black. IF the tires are still pretty new, and you wanted to save a buck for a while. I'd have a difficult time driving around w/ those crazy tires.. One side of the tire has the letters DOT, followed by more numbers and/or letters. At the end of these digits are 3 or 4 numbers. The numbers tell the date of manufacture. 3 digits would not be good, because they would be pre Jan 1, 2000 (example 249, would mean 24th week of 1999). 4 digits read similar (example 3609, would mean 36th week of 2009) Awesome car!!!

Yeah, super busy with work and its been -3f every morning. I'll be throwing some money at it this spring. Its going to sit in the garage until then. I will send it to my mechanic for disc brakes, and a rear end job as well as tires, rims and a general once over of all the usual suspect issues with a car of this vintage. As for the tires, they will drive her on to the trailer just fine.

Heres a couple more of the engine and interior. She will be in her new garage this weekend. PO got her from a friend who passed 7 years ago. He had owned it for 15 years prior. It was originally a cream/green color. Blue is shot over the original paint. Its been garaged for 22 years and driven a couple times a year. Odometer reads 07360.1

Well my motor sounds like sheet. Missing bad. Changed plugs and wires as well as distributor cap and rotor. Cleaned the points and still runs poorly. Do I need an hei distributor? What is the best option? I've seen them on eBay for 99-149$ "ready to run". Any suggestions on a good plug and play hei?

Bad gas? Carb needs help? Bad coil?...Lots of possibilities.....not sure I would immediately jump to electronic ignition as a first step.

I filled her up with a fresh tank. Doesn't mean there's not crap in there. I pulled the fuel line off the carb, its cranking it out. Think ill try a new carb soon. MarcC has one that should be the same as mine from his 67 GP. I guess a coil is next on the list. Got an appointment at a local shop that deals with carbureted vehicles. Was hoping I could figure it out on my own. Maybe I'll try carb cleaner.
