Default Passenger side mirror question

If you have an original passenger side mirror on your 67-68, could you please share a couple photos? I'm interested in the style and exact placement. Thank you.

Not a factory option. I believe some dealers may have added aftermarket.

I like the look of them if the car doesn't have a remote mirror on the drivers side. When you see a car with the remote on one side and a non-remote on the other it looks hokey!

Agree with you here.
My '69 GTO came with a d/s remote mirror and I was thinking I'd like to add a passenger side mirror to the car since I am so used to using them.
If I decide to do that, I figured I would discard my d/s remote mirror and go with a manual so I'd have a match. (I'm buying new door panels anyway so that's not a problem).

I was looking at my doors today and noticed that my d/s door has a factory brace spot welded in on the inside to help support the mirror mount. Did manual mirrored cars have that brace on the inside as well?
I don't want to mount a p/s mirror without an inside brace if it really needs the extra support from behind.

They never offered a factory passenger mirror so no brace but the manual mirror is very light and mounts to a bracket screwed into the door.

I had one for 20 years and it never put any wows into the door. If you wanted to sleep better you could bolt instead of screw on the bracket and put big washers on the inside to spread the load.

I actually prefer the look of the manual mirror, very slim and lithe. But it’s a pain when they move around when you slam a door.

Stay away from NOS, they are all made with worn tooling that makes the mirror flop. The repro’s from Ames are excellent for all but concours.

Thanks North. The Ames catalog was where I was looking at them. I think they sell the highest quality products available and tend to go with them on almost everything I need.

I do wish they offered a convex mirror for the p/s. Not sure why they don't do that.
