276 Formula 455HO cars in 1972. Ram Air and Unitized Ignition were both required options with the 455HO, so they all had them. I'm not 100% certain on the exact breakdown, but I think something like 82 or 84 were M22 cars. I'm not sure if any were three speed manual trans cars.

On the rims, it could have come with steel wheels, you were not limited to rally wheels or honeycombs when it came to a Formula. You have a very cool car Frankie, and it's going to be quite unique if you restore it in the original color.

Now this car is an original Ram Air car and don't know with 100% certainty if Ram Air was an option. I think I read somewhere that only for "72" if you opted for the 455HO you automatically got Ram Air. I have to admit that back when it was a "used" car I did omit some pollution control stuff like TCS and I took the actuators of the air filter housing which seem to be one year only(I regret that now, but did it nicely so if I found some they would go right back on, nothing is hacked). Oh, I also took off the exhaust manifold shields. But, everything else is still there including intake and exhaust. It does have F41 handling package, 3.08 posi, automatic, power windows and obviously A/C. When I got it it had aftermarket wheels so not sure if had HC or Rally II's. It does have standard interior, It has full gages and the original T/A steering wheel. I am the third owner and as far as I know it was purchased originally in south Florida. I think at the end of this week I will order the PHS...

True about the wheels, I didn't think about that. Most of my Firebirds were always Trans Ams. I'm gonna get the PHS and I'll update. When I get to this car it will definitely be the original color.

A shame you missed out on the 1-800-PONTIAC free invoices in the later 80's.
For about 2 or 3 years they did them for free 1969 - through that current year.
When PHS started out with it, it was $25 iirc
When I contacted Pontiac it was by phone and they gave me the info right there on the spot and it was free. I still have the notes I took.

All of those were Ram Air cars and unitized ignition. Is the ignition still there? Very cool car, a keeper for sure.

When I bought the car the unitized was gone but I don't want to say I replaced it because I didn't know it came with it originally but ironically enough I put unitized in it back in the eighties, which is still in it and runs perfect. I have two of those distributors so when I get back to the car I'll have to check date codes.

The car is Julep green.
The car was built the day before my 9th birthday.
It was delivered in my home town dealership about two miles from my house except the dealer is no longer there obviously.

According to PHS the build sheet was in poor condition so they sent it to me, its legible if you know what you are looking at. Here's a list.

Color: (KK) Julep Green
Trim: (161) Black Standard Vinyl Bucket Seats
Engine: 455 cid – 4bbl Ram Air H.O. Engine (code YE) w/ Hydra Matic Transmission
The optional equipment on this vehicle is as follows:
332 – Formula Handling Package
34X – 455 H.O. V8 Engine
35L – Turbo Hydra Matic Transmission
361 – Safe-T-Track Rear Axle
431 – Console
432 – Concealed Windshield Wipers
441 – R.H. Vanity visor Mirror
464 – Formula Steering Wheel
478 – Honeycomb Wheels
481 – Roof Drip Scalp Moulding
491 – Front & Rear Wheel Opening Mouldings
492 – Door Edge Guards
501 – Power Steering (variable ratio)
502 – Power Front Disc Brakes
521 – Front Floor Mats
531 – Soft Ray Glass (all windows)
551 – Power Windows
582 – Custom Air Conditioning
601 – Air Inlet - H.D.
634 – Unitized Ignition
714 – Rally Gauge Cluster & Tachometer
Your 1972 Firebird Formula was built on 11/10/1971 at the Norwood Ohio Assembly

Did it sell new in Canada ?

Great that it came with the Y99 Handling Package and Hcombs
so 15" wheels with RWL Tires

And no up-charge shown for special paint
So Julep must have been a Firebird color ?
It was special paint / up-charge on 72 GTO

Great car and colors! Yet another well optioned top end Formula, and no spoiler ordered, it appears. Cool!

Yes no rear spoiler but the previous owner put one before I bought it which is on it currently. I have mixed emotions about that.

I put a poll in The Lobby a while back, to help on my same, but in reverse, conundrum. It didn't help, as results were essentially split. Favorite comment was that these Birds look like a dog squatting to pee, without a spoiler. Nothing can top that

The car isn't going anywhere that much is certain. I looked at the title the other day...I bought it in 1981.
The trick now is to live long enough to get to it. My 78 needs paint and that one's next. Cool thing is all it really needs is paint. It's a Van Nuyes car and the color is gone. Still glossy but the pigment is gone. I believe it was the first year of water based paint.

As far as the Formula is concerned I will start collecting parts. It needs a bunch of sheet metal work. It has some rust. Remember this was the year of the strike, right?

I received the PHS on this and yes it is Julep Green. It also lists unitized on it.

I remember the unitized being a part of a option package but thought it was a midyear intro. Guess November could fit.

I guess it has to or the docs are inaccurate...
