Fun night at the dragstrip
I met Dave (torqhead) as well as some others at Bandimere Speedway last night. Dave has an absolutely beautiful 69 GTO. It was hot and the air completely sucked, over 9,000 DA most of the night and it was hot. By evening we managed to get our stuff dialed in and had some fun runs. Dave had his first venture into the 12's and we had one heck of a good grudge match after we had to spend 20 minutes swapping out his ALT belt which was very near failure.
Here are some videos and pics. Nice to see some Pontiacs out there representing! Dave and I's best race of the night: https://youtu.be/fck_XB8abic Ride alongs in my car: https://youtu.be/K8C4sWhb60A https://youtu.be/5Kj63maS1rg Couple videos of Dave's car launching: https://youtu.be/A4LKr8falL4 https://youtu.be/n_8kj6HNTFo

Sadly, it's pretty typical for Bandimere. "Good" air is around 8000, maybe a bit less. Bandimere is physically about 5800 ft above sea level. Add heat and low pressure which is common this time of year and the DA sucks.
Inconvenient for us racer types, treacherous for the guys with Cessna 152's and Piper Cubs!

Nice runs and nice cars! Love the in-car video - my adrenaline was pumping just watching.
One thing I love about Northern California is being at sea level. DA is typically pretty good in Sonoma and Sacramento!

Really cool pics and videos! Very nice cars and just the kind I like seeing best at the track. Looks like a fancy track, too.

Great videos and having a good time. Nice to see some people at the track doing what the cars were meant for.
Brutal DA ...... geeeez Hard to tell in the video but looked like a very high 12 second pass. That's an easy 11.60-11.80 pass in decent air. |

I've done a number of changes over the past couple of years including suspension, a couple of tweaks and I think I can solve the weight transfer problem. I'll post some other vids this weekend. |
