Default Bought the wife a Dodge Magnum

So my wife has always wanted a Dodge Magnum, but when they were new we could not afford one. Bad time in my employment History.
Then I had the opportunity to buy this 2005 with less than 800 original miles on it. Not the color, or engine she would have wanted. She wanted a Bright Red RT with the 5.7L engine, cloth interior, and no Sunroof.
This one is silver, has Slate/Stone leather, a sunroof, and the 3.5L SOHC V6 I have heard so many bad things about. But it is basically a 19 year old new car. Bought from the owner of the dealership it was delivered to new. (he also has some other almost no mile cars, some I understand like the Scat Pack Challenger, and others like a last year Dodge Minivan that I don't understand.)
Over the years he added 20" Challenger Rims, Mopar Performance Coil Overs and front and rear sway bars, a Mopar cat back fake duel exhaust system with a duel outlet rear facia, and a cold air intake.
Short answer is I did get it for less than the original Sticker Price, and will have to put new tires on it as the ones on it are date coded from 2011. But my wife is thrilled. I like the fact that the first thing she said when I asked her if she wanted it. (That was hell yes!) Was if I blow up the V6 can we put a 6.2L in it?
What do you all think?
Forgive my bad picture taking skills, the car is stored on the 2nd story of a very old dealership and the lighting was not very good.

Nice car, not quite the same but my daily driver is a 2009 300C AWD. Great car, especially in New England winters.

Gary, It could be, I have heard about unsold cars kept at dealerships before, but had never actually seen one. This one was not titled until earlier this year. Really really weird. But Kat is happy, now I just need to get it back to Michigan and change the remaining fluids, It had the Coolant and oil changed a couple of months ago. I think at the very least the brake fluid needs to be changed.

Not a dodge guy but I have always liked the styling of these.

When GM dumped beloved pontiac to save buick I got one for the wife (AWD '06 RT) and it was a blast to drive to get groceries.

However, all kinds of issues arose during the warranty period I got nervous and traded it in for a used cheby.

I heard the 6 is more reliable - good luck with her!

Love those cars. I was hot for one some years back & was curious on dropping a hellcat crate motor in it.

If it makes the wife happy, that's a big plus in my book.

I personally couldn't buy a Dodge, but I will admit that wagon is good looking.

Is she planning to blow up the V6 on purpose???

We bought a Magnum just like that when they were first released in mid 2004. Silver, 3.5 V6, only the interior was dark charcoal (almost black). They were a hot commodity at that time, but the dealer found what we wanted a few hundred miles away. We wanted a silver, low option (low price) model. Our first brand new car.

The wife and I both really liked that Magnum, it was her daily driver but I got to drive it sometimes. It had enough power to move it around properly. I think the gas mileage was very good for a car with so much space.

I put on a set of new take-off Magnum RT 18'' wheels and tires when it was about a year old. Ours was trouble free as I remember, the only thing I can think of was the plastic clips that hold the sun visors broke several times.

Unfortunately, a month after it was paid for, the front end got banged up. The insurance company stated since the airbags deployed, it was a total loss. I think it had about 90,000 miles on it.

Awesome that you found a 'new' one, I hope you enjoy it as much as we did ours.

I've always sort of liked them although I've never owned one. I considered a hemi version several years ago but ended up with a truck.

Unbelievable to find a basically new Magnum! Nice find. I think your wife will like it. Great looking color, don’t see that color very often.

My wife’s daily was a 06 R/T AWD until last fall. Ours has close to 200K on it now..

The photo is from me racing a new Vette with it last weekend. It caught me at half track. Was surprised the magnum held it off that long!

The rule in my family is "You can have any car you want, as long as it's a Pontiac."

When the neon first came out, my daughter thought she might want to buy one. I told her as long as she parked it in the street, it was fine by me........

She ended up with a Fiero, and later on a Grand Am. After getting married she bought an olds alero, and a malibu. At least she still bought GM cars.

We had a Pontiac Buick dealer that had low mileage never titled cars in their inventory. In 1981 he had a new 1979 TA/TA, and a 1980 Indy Pace car T/A.

In 1983 he sold a customer a 1979 buick lesabre that had never been titled. The buick dealership I was working at got it in for warranty work. Normally it would be out of warranty by time, but still qualified because it wasn't titled until 1983 so it was 3 years, 36000 miles from delivery. That was pretty unusual to have a 5 year old car in for warranty work.

I don't know what you heard bad about the 3.5 V6 but I worked for Chrysler and that was a great engine for it's time. In fact I bought a 2005 Magnum new and drove it until 3 years ago when my son and his family started driving it. Nothing but routine maintenance was done to it until just a couple of months ago when it needed a fuel pump.

That is a sharp car.
Yes, the 6.2 or 6.4 will fit in there if you use both the front and rear cradles, and a whole bunch of parts and money, there is a guy in Detroit that does the swaps in the 300's. He has a YouTube channel, Khal_Srt.

Goatracer1 - Glad to hear that the 3.5L engine should be OK, mostly I think I heard bad things about oil Sludgeing, and early connecting rod failures. But in doing some research the last few days it seems most of the issues are caused by owners not changing the oil, and using cheap oil. Also not changing the timing belt causing the interference engine to self destruct at 80-100K miles.

So even though I think our car has only had 1 oil change in its 18+ year existence I think it will be OK for a good long time.

Brad you bring up an interesting point, seeing as the car was not titled until earlier this year, I wonder if I could push Chrysler to honor the original 7/70 warranty? I doubt it seeing as this is the Post Bankruptcy Chrysler. But it won't hurt to ask.

Thanks for all the good will for a non Pontiac Purchase, I also didn't realize that the Magnums came out a year before the Chargers, so even though I always thought of them as Charger Station Wagons, they are really more of a Chrysler 300 Station wagon.

Nice! When those first came out I swore I would get one some day. I even rented one for a vacation trip and really enjoyed it. I still like them.

It really is more 300 than Charger. In fact the 300's nose will bolt on with no mods. There is a lot of Mercedes in it too. I performed all maintenance according to the owner's manual with good results.
