kick panel insulator
I'm reinstalling the kick panels in my 67 after having them off for a long time. The service manual picture (Fig. 18-106) shows one screw to attach, but also references an 'insulator' to be glued to the trim. The illustration is specific to an A/C car, which mine is . Does anyone know what this insulator looks like? A picture would be great. TIA for any help.

If I remember correctly it is a piece of jute padding glued to the backside of the kick panel, the shape of the kick panel but smaller so the edges fit against the metal of the car. But, I could be thinking of another car. If I could open the door on my car I would remove a kick panel to see. Mine is also an A/C car. Do a search for 67 GTO kick panel insulation and you will see what I am talking about. I tried to post a link but it kept messing up so I deleted it.

Thanks for your reply. It's coming back to me... the jute on the back-side, which I replaced with another material. Maybe I would have figured it out if the manual had used the word "insulation" instead of "insulator." Thanks for jogging my memory. Take care.

It's a grey padding. There is also a piece for the vent doors on cars with no a/c. The padding does lower the road noise a bit.
