MoFo !

Would make an excellent cell mate with my old SD TA with same combo.
or NJsteves current SD Formula with same combo.

The vinyl top / molding is killing my eyes though. Real bad
Highly valuable car , but think it probably needs a lower number to get sold.

Thanks for posting it up bluebird.

Yeah, but I can see someone paying that or close to it.

Hell, they don't come up often, it's a 73, and with Vinyl top, so I would not be surprise if someone just gets it and be done. The ones with $$$ to burn just pull the trigger when they see what they want.

What's really a realistic figure?? no PVC hose, some other stuff, so maybe 70-80k??

Auto , Vinyl Top with no Kicking Color Combo.... I would guess it would need to be about 98% perfect to pull 115k .
Guess being the key word
Idunno if 100k is even do-able really at 98%.

Like you said , money to burn is a different factor too.
Great car with 67k miles and 2 owners.

But, it looks like a Mike Noun window sticker. And, he (Mike) has admitted he would doctor them.
Someone would have to order PHS and verify VIN (not the conformance sticker either) as to price.

Very cool car! Repro window sticker. Lots of little engine compartment parts missing. Wrong air cleaner too. It would need a serious inspection to verify what else is missing but looks like a great car.

Now here is something wild: There were 9 Cameo White SD455 Formulas built. 8 autos and 1 four-speed.

The SD455 Registry already has records of the 8 Cameo White automatic SD455 Formulas. This car's VIN is not among them. That makes 9 white automatics of 8 that are recorded to have been produced. (The 1 white 4-speed is not registered in the data base)

There is a thread already in the regular 73 section here. I've been talking to the owner of the car to give him some advice on listing it accurately, and he has been sending me photos to post. It's a real car. He will be ordering the PHS ASAP.

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...d.php?t=817955

Oh, and one of the guys on the Yenko site knows where the one white, four-speed car is. So that one is accounted for as well.

I know the guy who owns the 73 white 4 speed car. He’s owned it 25 years, I’ll see if he’ll let me post some pics,

Wonder why there is a discrepancy with those numbers?

The registry does have two white export cars and that one listed in England that has no details other than the VIN and says it was scrapped in 1986. Maybe that is the discrepancy?

I know with Chrysler products, the car cars sent to Canada and Europe were not included in the production numbers. That was why the 7 1971 HemiCuda convertibles ended up actually being 11 cars when the Euro and Canada cars were included.

I'm betting that Pontiac didn't keep color records. Therefore, nobody knows it...

Well, 27 out of 43 purportedly accounted for per that registry with the addition of this Ebay car.

33 automatic cars:
◾cameo white=8?
◾golden olive =1
◾bucaneer red=1
◾ascot silver=9
◾verdant green=1
◾florentine red=3
◾valencia gold=1
◾admiralty blue=5
◾brewster green=1
◾navajo orange=1
◾burma brown=2

10 four-speed cars:
◾cameo white=1
◾bucaneer red=1
◾ascot silver=1
◾porcelain blue=1
◾florentine red=4
◾admiralty blue=2

Isn't the reason we have the color records was because many years ago, some very curious person with a deep pocket, paid for the PHS of every VIN starting with 2U87X3. I think the guy was a dentist?

(Also, it is possible that the scrapped England car was originally a different color when built but later in life was painted white. I guess the only way to know would be to order the PHS of that VIN)

That sounds reasonable.

If he isn't Fred Simmonds. I doubt any others had access to ALL Pontiac records. Including PHS that have been known to miss some.

Wasn't there a 74 SD Formula without a X in vin on PHS? Stuff happens...

I know the original prototype SD455 T/A that is now in Australia was not an X-code car. But that was a Pontiac in-house mule that eventually got sold off. (I wonder how the restoration on that car is going? We haven't heard anything in a while)

I don't think Fred had a color breakdown, but maybe as so few were built.

Is the '74 car finished yet?

Here's the pertinent text from Frank G:

"The reason we have a complete, 100% breakdown for the 73 Formulas and not for the 74's is that, sometime in the mid 90's, an enthusiast had a strong interest in the 73 Formula's. Through hard work and dedication, he was able to obtain all 43 VIN's through communication with each state's DMV. He then ordered the PHS documents for all 43 cars. He allowed me to compile the data on those 43, which appeared in one of the SD Registries, back in the time when they were printed and mailed. I have to believe the opportunity to gather this type of information from the DMV is no longer permitted. PHS, by contract, is not allowed to mine the microfilm for statistics. They are only able to fill orders from customers who provide a VIN. So, we will never be able to obtain a 100%breakdown on the 74's like we have for the 73's."

So the above info prompts the theory that no exported cars would be on this list since they would not have been in the 50-state DMV databases if they were exported when new???

That's a good question?
Does it also mean there are more than 43 SD Formulas?
