[QUOTE=72projectbird;6264192]If it's a private truck, not commercial, with regular plates, there's no way he should've got a ticket.

Yes it was commercial, but we dont have commercial plates in MD. Only sign it was commercial was the company lettering on the door.

I have been stopped in PA whilst pulling a box trailer with my company lettered pickup and trailer as well.

Thats how I feel about mu 06 f150. Great truck, have owned since new but the shop is telling me it needs $2k to be put into the motor! I THOUGHT I would just put that towards a new to me truck but having second thoughts now.

I have been looking for a used truck since last winter. My target range is '12-'16. I thought I wanted a silverado just because the last couple of trucks I have had were fords. They have been great vehicles, thought it was time to change things up a bit. I know the price of the used has gone up significantly over the last few months. What was in the 24k range in April is now 28k +

I think PA's gas tax is higher, but our registration is somewhat reasonable compared to a lot of states..

Quick google search confirmed we are #1 in gas tax! Woohoo!!

I live 2 miles from the border. Every once in awhile in my travels I forget to fill up, and need to get gas in PA, OUCH. Easily .10-.15 higher than MD.

South Florida is usually about 20c/gal higher than central Florida but is cheaper in Georgia.

It was $.40 cheaper in the Morgantown, WV area than up here, last Tuesday.

I bought a new ZR2 in the late fall, sold my rusty avalanche in a hour, for top dollar. Truck market is hot.

After my last two GM experiences I wont buy another.

My 1996 Sierra blew the trans at 2500 miles. Blew the diff at 30k. Blew the trans again at 50k. Then blew the diff again at 90k.
My 04 GTO is on its 5th trans (Automatic) and 3rd diff.

But maybe its me...

My last three GMC trucks went their first 100,000 miles with only brakes, didn't even have to put in a battery for 9 years on the first one. Haven't had to do so much as touch a power train bolt or screw on my GMs for the last 30 years ... take that back, had to do a universal on one of them about 90,000 miles. Current 2011 is just at 100,000 and besides brakes and oil changes .... haven't touched a thing except one O2 sensor. Still has the original belts, air filter, fuel pump, tranny fluid, diff fluid (going to have those changed this summer).

So, as they say ... your mileage may vary.

However I did order all these trucks with HD cooling, trailering package, Eaton locker diff, HD suspension, high output alternator etc. The current one must have five different coolers on it, oil cooler, tranny cooler, PS cooler, no mechanical fan but two electric fans. All of the trucks probably towed 20,000 miles each.

Lots of funny business going on right now, Due to the chip shortage, my friends new GMC came without the dynamic fuel management on the 5.3. All he got was a $50 credit, Going to lose 2-3 mpg. For the life of the truck.

I think the high prices are a bubble that will break whenever the computer chip supply returns and the stockpile of unfinished trucks is released. So if you can sell now and wait to buy, you are fortunate.

Well, just to update this thread two months later. things have for sure got worse, not better like I had hoped. GM is pretty much not making HD trucks anymore, Or somebody is hiding them from all the dealers across the country? How are they surviving?

So now, the dealers who do have the 2500HD's are adding many thousands over sticker price & I am seeing private party people listing their 1 & 2 year old trucks at thousands more than what they would be brand new today. This is getting crazy. At this rate trucks will hit 6 figures in another year or so. Those of you who bought new in 2019, be thankful you did.

Did he find one at msrp, or near it? Laura GMC in Ill was offering small $500 discounts as they were know for the being the biggest GMC dealer in the USA.

This an example near me:

this is sticker price with an extra $5000 in the dealers pocket.

Probably a good thing. My parents have a 2021 Tahoe with the 5.3AFM and at 4K miles the lifters went south. Repaired under warranty but seems like a TON of trucks built between Jan and April of 2021 are going to have issues with lifters. My parents truck was built in March and they got it the first week of May I believe.

The other bottle neck is chips Ford is having the same issue.

I have better things to do with my money than fork over 48-80K for a pickup truck.
Absolutely ridiculous. I'm currently towing my trailers with a 99 Ford Expedition that I bought 12 years ago
with 241,000 miles on it because the guys wife was afraid of it due to the high mileage. I've put another 100,000
on the truck and have done nothing to it but tires, brakes and oil changes. It is still a beautiful truck in every way
and i fully intend to keep driving it and put 500,000 miles on it. The price 12 years ago? 1900 dollars. the truck still has it's original engine, transmission, rear end, A/C compressor , power steering pump, fuel pump, exhaust system. and front end other than ball joints. Oh, and the check engine light has never come on even once in 350,000 miles. Try that with your
2021 Silverado and best of luck to you.

I was looking for a nice used Chevy or Gmc but the dealers around here want more for a used truck than new and then the one that do have new ones are zinging you another 4500 on top of the MSRP.

Maybe we should have Elon Musk fly a rocket to another universe so we can buy some chips.
That just must be our best bet at this point.
This is getting absurd.
