Default 1970 Firebird Clutch pedal assembly

Can anyone explain the difference between the early 2nd gen pedal setup and the later style? Are they interchangeable?

The clutch pedal pad size changed beginning in the 1972 model. I’m unaware of any other changes.

@1968firebird455;

My vague recollection is tied to a 1977 clutch pedal assembly I grabbed many years ago, and is now in my (former) 1973 Formula that my brother owns;
I knew that there was a difference, but it's been so long since I looked into this, that I would simply default to going with Norwood on this one;
He knows his stuff better than me.

While many are dated, even before the '73 model which saw a lot more date codes. The pedal carriers are the same. I saw some changes in pedal angle though the 70's where the clutch pedal was lowered a bit. These were the smaller pedal. Keep in mind Fisher shared these with X bodys as well.

Thanks guys! I knew about the pedal size I am more concerned about the brake rod hole location or if they changed the bend in the brake pedal arm.

Ok, I'm going to give this a small bump.

I sometimes sabotage myself, and I am sitting here trying to see the difference;
I think I know which one is from my car, but I am not sure (I have marked some parts, bagged others, but the odd one has been placed aside... and even more rare is it's been put beside another same part.

What do I look for to confirm that either one of these is a correct 1970 part, or if both are.

They look to be dead ringers of each other - and they might be
I am pretty sure the clutch pedal setup I pulled from a 77 TA is in my brother's 73 Formula.

It is possible that this is from the wrecked '70 made the same day as mine (from which many parts will find their way onto my car).

Check for dates. I am sure 73 and up have dates, but some early cars do to, like this one

Agree with Craig, small clutch pedal pad beginning with early '72 models.
Have always pulled the pedals with the stamped steel carrier & the long clutch rod. Have sold quite a few but still have half a dozen.

you guys are awesome!!

with just a light wiping with a napkin where you showed me to zero in, and sure enough - there are the stampings;
Previously obscured with super light surface rust and dust!

The one that I figured to be from my car was 5-1-70
The "5" was a bit faint, but a better clean, and some light makes it clear enough.

The other one also has the first digit faint, but I am fairly confident that it too is 5-1-70.

Thanks again!!
