Default TAC forum down again?

I don’t know if it’s poor form to discuss another forum here, or if it will ruffle anyone’s feathers, but it appears that the Trans Am Country forum is down again. I have seen a few familiar names on this site that are also there. I
Just wondering if they have any info or are even experiencing the same thing. It sucks because people were just starting to rebuild their old project threads.

There is some great content here and I hope to meet some of the local to me guys at Island Dragway in the future.

That forum might be done for. It's a shame, there was a lot of good information and members over there.

The corruption of all the forum data during the big update really hurt it. It's a vast wasteland compared to what it used to be. Only a handful of guys posting now. All those awesome build threads were lost, including a few of my own. I really don't have the desire to try and recreate them, and even if I did, I probably couldn't.

I'm surprised it's down again, I thought the update took care of the stability issues.

Poor management. Cheap servers aren’t a good thing.
The add on the error page works though, lmao

Still down.
Its sad as the admin Mr. Bandit put a considerable effort into getting it back up.
Although a lot was lost, members were putting their time in recreating content.

I keep checking in to see what's up.

The above post may be right, it may be done for.
There are a couple of guys / names I have recognized like Kerry.
Just wondering if they have any other info due to offline contact with other members.

What's funny is you don't see a lot of the TAC guys over here. Usually Pontiac guys are part of multiple sites.

I noticed a few familiar screen names.
There are a couple that I think are also on the YB.
A couple too on the alternative to the YB.
I personally dig this place and while not super brand loyal; the fact is I have a Pontiac (TA) and AMC (the bracket car) so I jumped in here.

Pontiac guys I thing are more open minded when it comes to all the brand talk.
Its understood anyone can build a Chevy and I'm not going to address Fords.
Buicks are like Pontiacs cool cousin in my opinion; and please realize it is just that.

Now; racing an AMC please try and understand >>> the struggle is real LOL!
The only bolt on parts for an AMC are the ones I make and then bolt on ... sort of.

Damn. I pretty much forgot what this thread was about after that Max Middleton piano intro. Priceless.

I particularly enjoy TAC because it is all Trans Am. I look here everyday but dont always post for a variety of reasons. This is a great Pontiac site, and no offense is meant by T/A's seem to get lost in the shuffle.

I too check a couple of times a day. May have to turn my computers and quit the forum life if it doesnt come back online

Most forums have died off due to the migration to Facebook groups, but forums by design are a much better storehouse of info as you've seen. Not transient like FB stuff, where you cant go back and find stuff easily if at all sometimes.

This Pontiac board is one of the last significantly used ones that I'm aware of.

Forum: posting is like adding a book to the library. FB Group: Drunk people at a table in a bar, yelling over the music and each other.

I was on another board for years, and it had the occasional production line stories by one guy in particular - they were often extremely informative, often hilarious, and we suggested he write a book. It was that good. Board crashes, all gone. It was a shame.

Tac management run a lot off the forum. If you don’t think like the 12 your gone. I called them the Jedi council, they added it to their screen manes. Lol.

The “walrus” in the Jeff beck video is awesome. Here’s another , so long TAC

Still down. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the end of them.

I have been a member of TAC since May of 2020. It had a loyal following with many members going back decades. Up until the crash and lost data earlier this year it had been a great forum for me. I thought the server and software update would provide site stability. I check the site every day hoping it comes back. So far nothing, not even a message on the banner as to what is going on. TAC had lots of knowledgeable people willing to help out. While I like all Pontiacs and Muscle Cars, it was nice that TAC was mostly about 2nd Gen Firebirds. It was fun to follow other member builds and projects. I recognize two very active TAC contributors on this thread, Kerry and Rambler Racer.

In a word I have to say I am very disappointed as TAC was the only forum I was a member of. I had all my eggs in one basket. Today that changed when I joined this forum.

Welcome!

There are 2 sub-forums here for 2nd Gen Firebirds.
Many knowledgeable people here, and check the search for many information tidbits.

I recently got back into the hobby after many years. I used TAC as my main reference for my pre buy research. It was vital for my build. It was kind of the perfect place to get TA specific info quickly.

I tried to be patient. I even sent them cash which went without thanks or communication of any kind. I spent weeks checking the site multiple times a day hoping for the restoration... never happened.

I am an experienced "forum guy" and I probably frequent a couple dozen of them, and I can say I have never seen such bad management. You have to have multiple separate backups and it appears they didnt. A correctly run forum is recoverable.

Its a real shame but it needs to go. Times up for me anyway. Im so glad I didnt build a restoration thread. Everyone should migrate to these other forums to help build up the base.

5th TA jumped in last year with a killer build / resto / mod thread >>> that was cool.
Kerry is a staple regarding experience and commitment to both his cars; and providing insight for others on the forum.
I had a thread with my TA resto; and morphed it into my R&M Pro Stock Camaro tribute build which I believe was well received.
I ws getting ready to resume progress build info when it crashed yet again.

Its not cool that the forum has been dark as long as it been with regards to the viability for the future.
I hope it comes back, but after the struggle in recent months that Mr. Bandit had, I would not criticize him for to letting it go.

I was a member when they started; then after the first time they were down, it just wasn't the same.
It was less fun, and too many people giving crap information (I realize some have probably thought the same of me here);
The fun factor was gone, and I more or less became a more and more infrequent visitor... I haven't been on there in years.
This is my 'Pontiac home' now, and has been for some time.
