I'm working on my 64 Catalina Station wagon again. I replaced a rusted out, manually operated tailgate for a good electically operated one.
The problem now is that it's a different key. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace it from the outside or do you have to replace it from the inside. I have the body manual and it gives instructions for doing it that include taking out the window and a bunch of other stuff. It seems like a lot of work for something that the dealer would have had to do fairly routinely. Thanks, Rick |

Unfortunatly you have to do this from the inside.
I have a 66 wagon that I restored. Some times if your lucky you can open the window while the gate is down by holding in the safety switch. But make sure to support the glass while it's outside of the gate. |

Warning! Be very carefull with your hands/Fingers inside the tailgate!
The arms are spring loaded! They will move violently and will break/ hack your fingers!
