Exclamation Extremly Rare Special Order From Factory 1969 Pontiac Grand Prix Sj

hi...I own a 1969 Pontiac grand prix sj, I phoned GM and they informed me that i have 1 of 6 cars made. Mine was # 3....They told me it was a extremly rare special order from factory car. They also said they will be sending me Historical papers for it. Does anyone know anything about this car. I do know who the oringinal owner is. All the numbers match up. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much

What options do you have to make it one of six. This question is not a challenge. I really want to know.

Thanks.

Is it a manual or automatic transmission? I'm curious about all of the options on your car also!

The 428 auto driveline was pretty plentiful. What color is it? I've heard of a few Carousel Red (Judge color) GP's. Special paint code cars sometimes had two dashes instead of a paint code on the cowl tag. Can you tell what the original color was?

Question

Surely, there must have been something that prompted redfiretop to call GM. Something other than a vaccum operated ashtray.
Who contacted whom? Maybe the GM 'official' on the other end of the line was just humoring redtop???

Agree with Tin Injun Tom. Someone at GM is pulling redtop's leg.

As 370 horse 428 was std engine in a '69 model SJ, & the SJ is green, prob Veduro green, there were tons of 'em built. I've parted three '69 SJ's this color.

112,000+ '69 GP's were assembled. No exact split betwwen model J's & model SJ's. Rarest, I'd bet, would be 390 horse M21 cars. Believe Keith V has posted the numbers of thge rare combo's before.

Any one hazard to guess how many '69's were SJ's?
I'm in for around 20%.

I have production figures for those cars. Perhaps this is a 428 3-speed car? Or maybe it was 1 of 6 cars that toured the country at new car shows?

Remember, this thread opened up with the tag line: "special order from factory".
That further demonstrates the car should have something MAJOR different about it. Unless the party that sold the GP to redfiretop was just feeding him a line.
He hasn't mentiioned how long he has owned the car. Did he just now find something unusual after owning the car a long time? Doubtfull.
Having to contact GM to get the nitty gritty on it tells me he just picked it up in the last few weeks/months.
