Nice find, thats my favorite year Grand Prix could of boughta 69 SJ for $2500, 428 auto with owner installed tripower back in 1993. Unfortunately I was broke at the time. Love the 69-72 GPs.

I flipped thru the Ind Auto Rv today and noticed 2 more for sale in it. One semi local to me for less than 3k with 62k advertised, One supposedly completely restored for 7500 OBO in Indy. That car's been for sale for over a year and I'll bet a guy could buy it for 5k.

It seems they're falling out of the sky right now.

Well I confirmed the engine's stuck today. It'll be awhile before this one runs. I did dump about a 1/2 gallon of PB blaster down the carb. I'll try it again in a week and see if it helps.

This one's too good for a transplant. THat 400 will run again, maybe slightly warmer than stock.

Hey, Mike!

Before you give up on getting the engine unstuck, try going in both directions with the breaker bar. I've gotten a couple of engines started which people couldn't turn and I did it by going in both directions and managing to get them loose. One was a 400 locked up due to a busted piston. Probably should have just torn it down, but it was a fresh rebuild and the owner wanted to make it run. It did, but it shouldn't have.

You shouldn't have those issues with your engine, but you should try to break it loose before you tear it down. As I said, rocking can do wonders.

Glad you made it home, safe and sound.

Been there done that loosened up the balancer bolt going backwards.

She's soaking now and the next round will be on the flywheel. With my luck I'll take the lands out of the pistons.

I have a passneger door for that if you need one. Has some minor rust issues in the lower seam and the front edge was tweaked against the front fender, easy fix. I don't know about shipping, I'd be stripping everything off it, but it would still be very heavy... or you could just give up trying to free up the motor and sell me the car!

I'll keep it in mind.

I'll be driving this one long before it goes anywhere I think. IF a vintage cars has to go it'll be the 65 GTO before a Grand Prix.

Have you had any more attempts at turning the engine, Mike?

To put it in perspective for myself, how long that GP sat: I bought my first car in August 1977. Sold it two years later. A couple months ago I had a dream that I found it in a cobweb filled garage. I was thinking "This is nuts. I wonder if I'll be able to drive it, it's probably pretty clapped out."

I was looking at your pics, and the snowbrush in the trunk looks like one of those 89 cent ones from the era.

The engine's tight.I dumped it full of PB blaster and Trans fluid mix and have let it sit for a week or so. The crank turns slightly [ 1/16"] and I'm thinking it's a valve issue. When I get a chance I'll pull the heads.

On the positive side, I've got the electrics working. Radio came alive today,Blower works, wipers worked with a nudge, washer clicks on and off like it should, clock works and keep time, Starter engages,Turn lights work, turn signals and flashers work.

Reverse lights don't work but that could be bulbs.

Mike, I forgot to ask. Where did you aquire the car from?
I see the protecto-plate is in Illinois. Can't make out the rear license plate, but looks like Manitoba, or an old Washington plate.

Update.

I'm giving up on getting the engine free in the car. I pulled a valve cover today and the engine looks new in side. I've broken two impact sockets AND a SNAP ON breaker bar on this thing. when I get time I'll pull it tear it down and do it right. Prybars on the flywheel didn't do a thing either. One thing about it, I know the balancer bolt's not stuck!
