First time with a 69 GP-J
Well, I have owned a 68 Firebird 400/4-speed car for 10 years, a 68 RS/SS 350 conv Camaro for 5 years before that. Most recently a 67 LeMans 326 4-speed car that I bought from the original owner with only 54k miles. I NEVER thought I would part with that car but I had no choice as I bought a home recently.
Well, one of our car friends went out of his way to help us get back into the hobby. He caught wind of a one owner 69 Grand Prix J, 400/350hp/400auto car w/82k miles. He went up there and bought the car, cleaned it up and dropped it off in our driveway. He told us to put plates on it and start coming to cruise nights & car shows again or the car was going to the Turkey Run this week to be sold off. Well, the car is in our hands now and has the following factory equipment: A/C, cruise, power trunk release, front disc, remote mirror, power brakes, power steering, AM/FM. The engine seems to have EVERYTHING 100% in tact, the vacuum switch & lines, all of the cruise control parts, a/c parts etc. Incredibly everything seems to be in place and thus far works as it should! This car has 82k miles and has only every been titled to one person up til now. This car has lived it's entire life in GA and has not been on the road in 20 years. We put clean gas in the tank which was completely bone dry, changed the oil & filter, cleaned the plugs & points, put oil in the cylinders and let it sit for a couple of days. Put a brand new battery in it and bang, this car fired up, idled and runs, rides & drives excellent! Now, it does need brakes and a COMPLETE tune up but this car absolutely rips! I've only driven up and down my street (dead end) and this car will lite the tires up and smokes the tires (spins them, not chirps them) when it shifts into second gear! Car has dual exhaust, looks to be factory and looks to be original if that is possible. Engine has 62 heads and runs incredibly STRONG! We owned a 77 Grand Prix 400 for a short time but it did NOT have the get up and go that this car has, not even CLOSE! Here are just a few pics for now. We are thinking a 4-speed conversion, red lines, triple black and making it a driver for my wife as I no longer drive due to my vision loss issues. The nice things is we are starting with a 100% complete car that runs & drives. This car appears to have it's original exhaust including the resonators!

Nice score! Is that color known as "espresso brown"?
I kick around the idea of making my '69 GP/J a 4 speed (it is a THREE speed currently) but I like the idea of keeping it as-built. Hope you and/or your wife drive the wheels off of it! |

You'll find these are great cars that are a hoot to drive. You'll also find they're pretty economical if you can keep your foot out of it.
It can't be too neglected ,I seee it's still got resonators on the exhaust. Congrats on the new family member. Mike

Thanks all! This car should indeed be fun to own and drive as well. Charles, Tammy, Jeffrey & I are all thrilled to be back in the game once again. We thought we were done and never to be back in and here we are!

Nobody had a chance at this one, it was not advertised. My friend who has been in the Pontiac hobby his entire life knew of this car for for the past few years and was waiting until someone needed a nice Pontiac to work with and here she is! Not too bad of a deal either for $650!

Decisions have been made. The car will have a 4-speed conversion, 3" exhaust, 15" Rally II's with Diamondback red line tires, triple black, hood tach, factory rally gauges. This will be a high quality driver frame on resto. Interior will be the first to be completed, then under hood cleanup/detail & new exhaust. Then the car will be stripped down (all chrome & rubber), bodywork, prime & paint and reassemble. The same guy who has done all of our other cars (in our Pontiac circle) including the 67 GTO that some of you may have just seen at the Turkey Run (this car was a HUGE HIT) will also be doing our Grand Prix. He says 4 months for his part of the job (we strip it down and reassemble).
