VIN stamp on XF block will start with 20 followed by plant code and last 6 of body VIN, correct? Dual snorkel air cleaner? Should the lid be painted or chrome?

This one is a bit of a tangent, but is the dash the same as '69 SJs?

Good stuff, thanks. Factory cam specs for the XF engine? Do the stock #64 heads work well with a bit more duration/lift?

067 cam. Many years ago ran a pair of fresh 64's on a '70 YZ short block with an 068 and 1.65's, ran well. On a '70 XF, will def benefit from good street work and larger cam.

CC / bowl / gasket match and cam, got it. Just looking to make 2.1 tons feel more like 1.7.

Same here... of the two '70 GP 455 cars I've owned... one Model J and one SJ, both had painted valve covers, a dual snorkel air cleaner with a black painted lid.

Just took delivery. Black lid over correct number carb. You be the judge.

Pinstripes? I haven't yet checked the car over for repaint, but it definitely had pinstripes put on it at some point --

15x7 Rally IIs -- 10 stamped to left of valve, 17 HM code to the right? Doesn't seem correct to me, but I wanted 15s anyway.

VIN stamped near engine code on Fremont plant cars, yes?

Thanks for the insight on this. I haven't owned a car this "new" since the '70 Judge I had and Quint Stires was next to me helping verify that car --

Cool. Sounds correct to me.

Pinstripes were an option for '70, but IMO they didn't work well with the upper quarter panel line. The '71-'72 pinstripe worked much better with the different style quarter.

No factory installed 15x7 Rally for '70 GP.

Yes... Fremont cars that I've owned in the past had the VIN stamp on the same pad as the code stamp, but were stamped very small, faint and often hard to see.

Post some photos when you can.

Found a 60903 Lunati cam while inventorying the trailer at a swap meet this weekend. I think I'll go with that with some tweaks. I haven't verified rear gears yet, but being a HO SJ, I'm hoping for 3.23 or 3.42s. I suppose more likely 3.23 being an air car? If 3.08, a change will be in order --

Photos coming once I have time with the car on a nice day. Week or two I would guess.

I considered a RAIV grind. 60919 is just over the side of the fence of where I want this car to be.
