Black '72 SJ Survivor
Just brought this "creampuff" home (as 2manyT/A'S would say). This is my first '69-'72 GP, but have wanted one for a very long time. My older brother had a triple black '69 SJ 428 HO when I was younger. Believe I was about 11 years old when I had my first ride in it. Needless to say, it left an indelible impression on my mind!
As for this car, it just rolled 75K original miles yesterday. It is probably the most original car I've ever owned. The more I look at it, the more I find. Still has the original spiral shocks on it! Every single piece of original paperwork is with the car, including a detailed maintenance record with every oil change, filter replacement, transmission service, etc. I have the original order form, Protect-O-Plate, warranty information, pre-delivery inspection sheet, etc. The most documentation I've had for a car. The car was ordered as a sleeper. It has the SJ (455) option (including the factory gauges), Safe-T-Track rearend, bench seat/column shift, AM radio, but no air, no power windows or locks, etc. Anyway, just wanted to share. Here are some pics: |

Awesome car and I too have always loved these large hooded sleepers. Love the originality and color combo. Many happy miles!

I have a 72 SSJ and a 72 TA. The GP's are very nice riding cars. Drive that around for a while and then your TA will feel like you're riding on bricks.
The car looks beautiful! |

Thanks for the compliments, guys. Yes, it does float down the road like a Cadillac - super smooth. It was very well cared for it's whole life and it shows.
Here are some pics of the documentation. Was ordered new at Ernie Von Schledorn in Menomonee Falls, WI and has remained in the area it's whole life. I bought it from the second owner (elderly gentleman), who was friends with the original owner. |

Nice looking GP James! Did you find a shroud? If not let me know, I have a good one!

By the way, I'm looking for a rear license plate filler piece - this one has been repaired. Also need a fan shroud extension - the part that rivets on to the shroud; mine is damaged. If you have either part or know of one, please send me a PM.
Oops, looks like you treed me, Lyn Yes, I would be interested. Please send some pics and price to: blue71ta at frontier dot com or give me a call if you still have my # |

Very nice Grand Prix you found. They look really good in black. As original as it is, I would love to spend a couple of hours going over it and taking pictures of the details.
My '72 is a loaded Model J, and it also came with a pile of original paperwork when I got it a few years ago. Too bad they didn't come with a gas station credit card, mine gets around 10 m.p.g. |

Exactly what I was thinking when I first saw it. It's Starlight Black with a Pewter vinyl top and Pewter cloth interior. I've never seen another one in this combo, but it's quite classy - almost like a tuxedo, especially with the white pinstripe and whitewall tires. Really grows on a person. Will post some more pics when I get time. |

There is also a hand-written note on the paperwork for the DuraCoat, something about a set of free floor mats because it wasn't completed on time. Those mats are still in the car. It really is in fantastic condition. I'm appreciating it the more I look at it. Here are a few more pics. I believe the build sheet is sticking out from behind the rear seat, as seen in the 4th pic. I haven't had time to pull the rear seat yet. Not sure if I should leave it there or pull it? |

It was in the car corral at a local show. I wasn't really looking to buy a car that day, but this one really caught my eye. I'm a sucker for original cars . I typically just go for the swap meet.

Good looking GP!
Do you have the PHS on it? Wondering what the dealer code is for Schledorn on it? I have the 'Buick' number but not the Pontiac number.
