Decal Questions
Two questions for the experts here:
1. On a '69 Judge painted Carousel Red what color should the "Ram Air" decals on the hood be - white or black? I've seen both. 2. Should the lower Ram air pan on a RA3 engine have the decal that says "Keep your GM car all GM" ? If so, where should the decal be placed? TIA !! |

Possibly the interior color dictates the Ram Air decal color and I don’t think the “Keep GM “ sticker was used on a Ram Air pans

Most I have seen are white, which I prefer. It matches the GTO emblem on the fender.
My kit came with black but I will probably change to white |

It seems they generally followed the color chart for the optional (on non-judge) lower rallye stripes. It worked on a combination of exterior lower paint and interior color (but not convertible, upper two tone or Cordova top color). That being said back in the day I saw original paint junkyard CR judges with black guts having white hood decals instead of black. My black interior CR Judge had black ones when I bought it but when I painted the car I switched them to white, they "pop" better and as mentioned already I like how they match the fender GTO emblems.
BTW, I wasn't happy with the repop decals so I got some NOS ones. Hard to explain but the factory ones are somehow much easier to read than the repro ones. The repop felt like I was trying to read it without my reading glasses. Lastly I located them as per the blueprint from the assembly manual. Interestingly the decal follows the contour of the hood surface not the top of the hood scoop. So they look a bit funny as you are installing them but when you stand back you see why the factory did them that way, just looks right!

The carousel red/black interior Judge used for the "The Judge Can Be Bought" magazine ads had black interior and white ram air hood decals.
White definitely looks better also on a carousel red car. |
