Default Power steering whine

Just like the title says but there is a twist. It only whines when turning the wheels to the right. Any suggestions where to start? Google search only lists a constant whine

Maybe only slips when it turns to the right?

A Process of elimination needs to be undertaken.

My guess is that it must take more force for some reason to turn the steering linkage in that direction.

Jack the whole nose of the car off the ground and with the motor off see if my guess pans out.

I got the squeal fixed it’s whining now when I turn the wheel to make right hand turns or really anytime it’s off center towards the right. I know I keep having stupid problems but I can’t post a video cause it only happens driving. I can sit still in the driveway turn the wheel both ways and it never make a sound

So your saying that it only takes place above idle rpm?

Yes only when drive, only when turning right. I can sit in the driveway and turn the wheel all day and no noise. Squeal is gone, belt is new, fluid is good. It is weird I know. I don’t know how to diagnose it cause I’d have to have someone riding under the hood LOL

Well all I can say now is that I think your gear box must be the source of your pumps whine issue because the pump does not know the difference between you making a left hand or right hand turn

Yeah I didn’t think of the box for whatever reason. I did a google search and it says box whine is cavitation or trapped air. I have bled this system repeatedly. How do I get it out?

Ok I bled it per a YouTube video I found and now when I turn to the left occasionally it fights me for a second. I’m talking about a microsecond the wheel feels like manual steering and won’t turn. How the hell do I get all this air out?

Well it’s getting air somehow.
So it must be getting in on the return/ suction side.

Air is easier for the pump to draw back into the pumps tank then the heavier fluid so there must be a issue with the return hose crimp fittings / clamp fitting or either ends seal to the pump or the gear box.

Pay very close attention to hose connections at pump Vs steering box….
In other words be sure you don’t have lines switched.

Two weeks ago I installed a serpentine system and the instruction sheet had the lines reversed at steering box…
