How low and what was its\yours production date?? Just curious to know how many RAIV Firebirds before Nov-Dec 1968 got delivered or even built. Thats the info I am tryin to put together to validate the Silver Proto-types. Both cars were tested in late Dec.1968 and early Jan. 1969 so they were some of the first for sure.

I think I posted this before, but many years ago I had a 69 Ram IV automatic engine that I picked up with a bunch of other parts. At the time, the guy was buying Ram IV motors and putting the top ends on 455HO blocks. I sold everything on the Ram IV except the carb. I remember the cast date on the block was early, which made it difficult to sell since it was much earlier than most of the Ram IVs built. I believe it was September of October of 1969. I bought this stuff about 25 yrs ago, and I wish I had recorded the VIN number.

I have a WH RAIV 4 speed block that is dated November 23, 1968. The PHS on this Firebird shows a ship date of 3/7/69.

My friend has a 69 RA IV intake dated sept 68 (someone cut off the water section in front). It may be a pre production piece since the part number area is a blank (has the snowflake though). He got it from the old racing team in Canada called Todco that raced trans-am

I've always wondered if RAIV's showed up on F-birds earlier or later than the early march date of GTO's

Yes, I meant 1968.

I was told that cutting the water section off was common. I had a 69 or 70 Ram IV intake (off of a different motor) that had the front section cut off of it a number of years ago. I believe it was a 70, but I'm not sure.
