Beamy, this was south of Ukiah, I believe near Hopland, where 101 is just a 2-lane, not a big divided 4-lane. On the East side of the road. An interesting exhibit, but watch out for ticks. BTW, if you ever get the chance, take Hwy 128 from Cloverdale to Elk/Mendocino. A rather more challenging road is Comptche-Ukiah Road. That is a really cool part of the world you live in.

VERY NICE 66. IS IT AN AUTO OR MANUAL? ANY OTHER OPTIONS OTHER THAN 8 LUGS? PUT A NEW TOP ON RUB OUT THE PAINT AND GO. ENJOY.

Thanks rknrl...the car is an auto (th400). It has electric windows and that's about it for factory options. Some years ago I installed a set of cast iron long-branch exhaust manifolds but otherwise it's stock. It runs good but like you say, it needs a new top and some work to rub out the paint.

Default Not pretty, but...

Some cool cars showing up on this thread. Here's my 65 "Post". I kept it at a remote location for 4 years. It's finally at my house, and I can work on it more often. Yeah.

Unhappy

Here's a couple more "trees growing through old Pontiacs" photos, to match Cheesepocket's contribution.
I used to go to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale 1987-91. After class and weekends we would go sight seeing. Way back then, I found abandoned halfway down a hillside, this 63 Bonneville. It is in the LaRue Pine Hills Recreation Area in the Shawnee National Forest.
Flash forward to Spring 2004, took my family to Southern IL. for a weekend getaway...stopped at the same park to see if I could find that old car again...mind you it had been maybe 13 years since i had seen it last, and for thel ife of me could not remeber wher it was. We stopped at an overlook, to check out he view, lo nad behold thecar was 50 feet down the hill, right in front of us. How it ever got there orignally I'll never know..but the hood, trunklid, engine and trans gone, the roof crushed and interior totally burnt out, it is half buried under rock sliding down the hillside over the years, and there is a sizable tree growing out of the engine compartment. It has some graffiti on it and has certainly been abused, but amazingly one tailight lens is still intact.

Default One more shot...

This is about all you can see looking down the hill at it...half buried, heavy front end damage. Either the car was stolen, parted, and then ditched here...or maybe it was driven off the winding cliff road, down the hillside and crashed into a tree...to be then slowly parted over time, but staying right where it still rests now...??

OK. Does this mean big Pontiacs = Tree Huggers? Maybe Cheespocket can confirm with those folks next time he is by that place in N. CA. I sure hope so. I have always thought I was beautifying he environment every time I drove one.

Well, this is my first post, I picked up this Chief in November, did the seats and the carpet, it just needs a little more TLC. All these big-bodies are sweet. Ill post more pics of the inside later.

Default I screwed up the carpet!

I forgot to put the plastic console piece under the carpet. This interior was so bad, that when I ripped it out, I forgot about the carpet. I tried to install the console this weekend. I looked back at the photos and, damn.

Otherwise, its has a 389, 060 over, 4 barrel carter.

I hope you like it.
