Thanks,
I know of a couple of housings that I may snatch. Wanted to know if there was at least one 3 series available and how common they were.

Joe, Hey there . Prob know, but not everyone does, have to watch the '75+ X bodies, as many Buick & some Pontiac X-body rears in the late 70's will only have 7.5's. Personally have had better luck finding 3.08's in the '73-74 X-body rears. I have yet to double ck width by mocking up rears, but '72-74 X-body takes a different part # axle than '75 up. I seriously believe the 72-74's are a slight bit narrower.
If you are at Awesome, & you come across a couple of these rears, might as well pull the rear covers & pop the axles. The axle claim ratio on these X body rears is really getting bad with most of the axles pitted on the bearing lands. I've been gutting the X body's on the spot to see what I'm buying, as the mgmt of the local Pick-n-Pull's can't be trusted to remember that they owe me a pair of good axles...Last I counted, after paying full r/e price for rears with no axles, I was owed 5 pair of axles, & I doubt I ever see 'em.

Thanks Roger. One is a 76 Omega and the other may be a 75 Apollo or Skylark. The owner has no idea and couldnt care less. I'll go take a look.
