69/70 Ram Air Pan/Lid Questions - Which is correct?
All,
I was in need of a Ram Air Air Cleaner Lid 13" for my 69 project, only part of the ram air set-up missing because someone used a aftermarket chrome one instead. I ended up finding 2 originals. They are heavy and show signs (pitting etc) of being used so they are not reproductions but they are slightly different and I would like to know for those people that have known original parts or low mile un-molested cars which one is correct and also what is the application for the other. Check the pictures below, one lid has a smooth edge and one has a raised edge. Both are identical in size, height etc. so I am curious as to what is correct and what is the other for. First 2 Pics are the raised edge, last 2 smooth edge. Comments... |

My June built Arlington RAIII car has the raised edge.

That seems to be consensus from looking at cars at Norwalk and talking to others. Anyone have an idea on the other lid ( no edge). Someone mentioned possibly a 68 lid?
Just curious |

With the rolled lip is correct. We've got several, and all look like the first pics.
Not sure what the 2nd style fits.
I'm thinking that the 1968 GTO lid was quite a bit larger in diameter, but it's a fuzzy memory. I might be mixing them up with the standard CA136-size 4bbl air filters. |
