This afternoon I was talking to one of the techs at Currie, preparing my shopping list with them and then the subject of wheel stud size came up. The person I spoke with suggested 5/8" if were planning to run slicks and if I were considering any power adders in the future.

I told him I would get back to him on it. I thought it would be simple matter to see if my wheels had 5/8" holes in them but after doing a bit of web browsing I'm thoroughly confused as it seems they use spacers and some wheels may not work at all.

Sorry if these are super stupid newb questions but here goes;
#1 - At what power point should be concerned with 5/8" studs? I do plan to run slicks, a wavetrac with 3.50 gears and motor dyno'd with 700 torque.

#2 - How do I measure or determine if my street wheels will fit. I would also want to get a set of wheels for the slicks. I have no idea what brand of wheels are currently on the car...I purchased them in the early 80's. A center line looking knock off brand. However, I did take some measurements and a photo below. The lug hole diameter measured from the back is 11/16" and on the front that hole also has a very slight taper with a flat milled recess of 1 3/16" in diamter.

I think 5/8 is over kill. I don't have 700lb/ft of torque but I have been running a 600hp blown 3700lb car with slicks for 25 years using 1/2 inch ARP studs. The 1/2 inch studs fit most wheel bolt holes including factory wheels.
