I was very happy with the 3M Urethane seam sealer I used in case you are looking to get some more.

All updates are worthwhile

Is that a one part? Does it apply with a caulk gun? I might go that route if I need more. Thanks!

With the cost of the applicator guns I’m sort of married to Fusor for the big 2-part tubes. I do believe my smaller 2-part gun can handle some 3m sealers though.

Awesome, thank you!

I’ll file that product number away. I’ve been using Fusor 123EZ almost exclusively and love it as a 2-part for the exterior stuff. It takes and holds tool/brush marks beautifully. I should have run a 1-part inside. My fault for complicating things.

Started prepping the core support tonight. Made it about 3/4 through. It’s a little worse than I remember in the insulator/mount area. Anybody happen to have one sitting around and can grab me the hole diameter for that area and possibly a pic? Original, repop… doesn’t matter to me. Maybe I can measure the bushings if they fit through like the body mounts? I forget.

Couple of pics of the 3M stuff applied to the outside cowl area, applied with the gun then brushed it out with a small paint brush cut off to make it stiffer.

That looks like it finishes nicely… looks good! I’ll keep it in mind.

Don’t know what I was thinking… I can measure that shoulder on the bushing and see what I need. By the time I’m done with the repair area I’ll have all new metal to drill through. Might also have to remove and fab up new versions of those braces that sweep in from vertical to horizontal going through the bushing area.

There are core support patches available from OPG.

Oh perfect, thank you!

I know there were ‘66-‘67 patch pieces but those were just the vertical to horizontal braces I was mentioning. I must have missed those and didn’t think of looking any further. Thanks!

Almost staying on schedule... Last night I hit the lower dash, interior firewall areas, and inner/outer heater boxes with last coat of epoxy along with the top coat over all the interior seam sealer.

Tonight I cleared the heater boxes to hopefully give them the proper look. Also cleared the lower dash and upper dash with flattened SPI Production Clear (only clear I had here). Used 20% and 35% flattening agent after some quick testing last week.

I can finally start on some interior chores now that the painting is done. I’m using Siless brand 157mil foil faced sound deadener on the inside roof and under dash area. Headliner tack strips are cleaned up, epoxied, and ready to go for the headliner. Can’t say that I’m excited to do the headliner…. But I am excited to see it done.

Rear springs showed up today after several weeks of cross-referencing part numbers trying to find the Moog springs I’ve used in the past. They showed as “discontinued” everywhere, but the replacements I found measure up perfectly. I’m happy it worked out.

Quick question… what’s the deal with the inner/outer heater boxes and gaskets? I didn’t buy the foam gasket that most people seemed to say wasn’t worth it and I bought the 3m strip caulk.

It looks as though the outer box would seal nicely with the strip caulk, does the inside just go over my firewall insulation pad and that’s it?

Also, is it correct that there is a rubber-type seal that goes over the in/out fittings on the core to seal up against the holes in the firewall?

Thank you.

Strip caulk around the outside housing perimeter. Theres an indentation in the housing to lay it in.
Inside housing goes against the firewall pad.

And yes, there is a pad that goes over the heater core tubes.
