Default 68-72 A-body radio in a 69 bird?

I didn't find any information on whether a 68-72 A-body radio will work in a 69 Firebird. Looking on the interweb shows they look similar with the exception that the buttons are longer on the Firebird radio. The front plates have the same part number cast in the pot metal.

Thanks in advance.

I have an original 69 Firebird AM radio if you are in need. PM me if you're interested.

Sometimes the size - or location - of the exterior finned cooling bridge will matter about which ones can go where.

But other than that all their physical dimensions are about the same , and will fit if the fins have clearance space.

For yrs I used a 68 big car AM-FM in my 68 Bird,until I found a proper 68 Firebird AM-FM Multiplex.

From much experience, the 69-72 A or G body AM and the AM/FM mono radios will work with in a 69 Firebird. It will look funny because the buttons are too short (the long ones are repro'd though) and you will need the Firebird only bezels (black ribbed instead of chrome with lettering). However, the Stereo radio (one or two piece) will be a problem but you can trim the cooling fins a bit (a lot on AC cars) to make it fit.
