If it's the knock off Flowmasters that you're worried about, I have a pair of "real" 3 inch Flowmaster Super 40's in like new condition I ran on my car for a while. They are for A-body offset inlet offset outlet exhaust system setups.

I'd gladly sell them to get them out of my way.

Are you interested in selling the super 40’s?

Nah. The generic turn-down tailpipes turned me off. The shop said they would have to rework the tailpipes for a valance exit and I didn't want spliced pieces added on in a visible spot. I decided to just rework my mufflers and have them fab new mid pipes without the Hpipe.

I've had 3" pipes on mine TA with 40's for 25 yrs....thought the 3" would soften the cam sound so I could kinda sneak up on folks......NOPE. NO sneaking with 11:1 400 RAIV cam...BUT it is not obnoxious either.

With the same pipes, I bet you make more power with 2.5" than with 3" FlowMasters.

My '67 Firebird gained nearly a tenth and 1.1mph when I swapped the 3" FM for 3" AP/Goerlichs

Back to the topic of deleting the crossover (either H-pipe or X-pipe) in the pursuit of sound, the Engine Masters show revealed that having a crossover absolutely produces more power across most of the rev range (idle to ~5k, IIRC). I'd be pretty hard pressed to take the H-pipe out if you already have one installed. I'd just get rowdier mufflers and keep the H-pipe if you want it to be more aggressive.
